An exciting opportunity for an experienced Financial Accountant to join Country Road Group. Ideally, you'll be experienced across fast-paced, multi-entity environments, bringing solid expertise across month-end close, P&L and balance sheet reporting, reconciliations, cash flow management and statutory compliance. Experienced working with multi-currency transactions, intercompany accounting, payroll and budgeting/reforecasting, with strong attention to detail and a commercial mindset.
We're looking for someone with big box retail, FMCG or Big 4 background, with hands-on experience supporting high-volume operations and translating financial data into clear, actionable insights. A proactive and adaptable finance professional who enjoys partnering with stakeholders and improving processes.
Work closely with the Central Finance team, including the Finance Manager, Financial Controller, Commercial Finance and Senior Financial Accountants, as well as Payroll, AP/AR, Tax & Treasury and Internal Audit. The role also has potential to partner with Store Development and Leasing & Real Estate teams on capex and lease-related matters.
How You Will Contribute
- Prepare and post month-end GL journals across AU and NZ entities, including accruals, payroll, store costs, reallocations and period-end adjustments.
- Complete cash, AR and merchant reconciliations across payment channels including VISA, Mastercard, AMEX and Afterpay.
- Prepare Capex/PPE, depreciation, lease incentive and occupancy journals, supporting IFRS 16 and lease accounting requirements.
- Assist with IFRS-related journals and reclassifications, including intercompany and depreciation reallocations.
- Prepare monthly BlackLine balance sheet reconciliations across Capex/PPE, intercompany, workcover and credit card accounts.
- Investigate and resolve reconciling items, escalating aged or complex issues to Senior Financial Accountants.
- Maintain and reconcile fixed asset registers, supporting Capex budgeting, depreciation forecasting and Store Development activities.
- Support statutory reporting, audit requirements and half/year-end true-ups, including payroll, loyalty, electricity and workcover.
Key Capabilities
- Previous experience in a commercial or chartered accounting environment.
- Strong experience working within a structured, deadline-driven month-end close cycle.
- Solid GL accounting, journal preparation and balance sheet reconciliation skills.
- Strong understanding of double-entry accounting and accounting standards, including IFRS 16.
- Experience with payroll and fixed asset accounting highly regarded.
- Advanced Excel skills, with Oracle ERP/EPM and BlackLine or similar platforms desirable.
- Retail and multi-entity, multi-currency experience highly desirable.
