Full Job Description

Bannister In Home Care is a leading provider of home care services dedicated to supporting older Australians to live independently and with dignity. We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountant to join our Finance team at our Head Office in Surry Hills.

About the Role

Reporting to the Finance and Administration Manager, the Accountant will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting, compliance, analysis, and business insights that support strategic decision-making and organisational performance.

Key ResponsibilitiesFinancial Reporting & Accounting

Prepare and analyse general ledger accounts.
Complete monthly financial reports, balance sheet reconciliations, and month-end processes.
Prepare and lodge BAS and assist with FBT reporting.
Monitor cash receipts and bank balances.
Prepare quarterly financial reports (QFR).
Maintain the Fixed Asset Register.
Process journals and financial adjustments.
Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities.
Provide financial analysis and business insights to management and the Board.
Participate in Stewart Brown benchmarking and industry reporting.

Compliance & Audit

Support annual audits and liaise with external auditors.
Ensure compliance with accounting standards and reporting requirements.
Maintain the integrity and accuracy of financial systems and records.

Operational Support

Assist with grant applications and surveys.
Provide backup support for Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and Payroll functions during leave periods or peak workloads.
Undertake ad-hoc projects and reporting requirements.

bout YouEssential Skills & Experience

✔ Xero

✔ Degree in Accounting, Finance, or equivalent qualification.
✔ Previous experience as an Assistant Accountant, Accountant, or Senior Bookkeeper.
✔ Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
✔ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills.
✔ Strong attention to detail and organisational skills.
✔ Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
✔ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
✔ Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.

Desirable

⭐ Experience in aged care, home care, or community services.
⭐ Knowledge of Aged Care Quality Standards.
⭐ Experience with aged care software such as Alaya or similar CRM/FMS platforms.
⭐ Experience with Home Care Package (SaH) billing and refunds.
⭐ Experience preparing QFR, ACFR, and benchmarking reports.

Full Australian working rights.

Pay: $90,000.00 – $100,000.00 per year
