Nurse Practitioner - Generalist / Chronic Disease

This position provides advanced nursing assessment, diagnosis, care and intervention to patients in a primary care setting within Maari Ma’s defined scope of practice (as set out in the position description).

The position is suitable for either a Generalist NP or Chronic Disease NP with the role of providing clinical and professional leadership in the development and monitoring of nursing practice standards and participates in and promotes continuous quality improvement to enhance patient care and safety.

The role actively promotes collaborative relationships with clients, colleagues and all members of the multi-disciplinary health care team. There is a strong emphasis on collaboration, coaching and engaging with the clinical teams to ensure team-based approach to proactive care.

Salary up to $154,913 gross per annum plus superannuation.

Incentives for this position

Retention bonus of $15,000 per year paid in instalments at 6, 12, 18 and 24 months of full-time service.

Accommodation provided in self-contained unit, including utilities and internet.

Plus shared accommodation available in Broken Hill for weekends in the regional centre to stay connected to the wider Maari Ma team and enjoy the region.

Relocation assistance to help you get to Wilcannia

Home base travel allowance to keep in touch with your family - $1,000 allowance on completion of each 6 months.

To be successful you will need:

Current registration and endorsement with AHPRA as a Nurse Practitioner – Generalist or Chronic Disease.

Demonstrated ability to work both independently within the Nurse Practitioner scope of nursing practice and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.

Demonstrated capability to effectively communicate with a range of different health care professionals.

Demonstrated ability to engage with and promote reflective practice across the primacy care team workforce.

Demonstrated experience and advanced clinical skills in the assessment and treatment of illness and injury relevant to primary care nursing practice.

Demonstrated understanding of the ACCHO model of Aboriginal community-controlled comprehensive primary health care, rooted in the core values of cultural continuity, holistic wellbeing and community self-determination.

Ability to work in a way that fosters mutual respect in a cross cultural environment.

Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of primary health care and how they relate to working with Aboriginal families.

Advanced interpersonal, verbal, written communication skills.

Computing skills relevant to the position and competent in the use of information and communication technology including Microsoft Word, email and internet applications and client databases.

Desirable – Experience working with Aboriginal clients and communities.

Desirable – Aboriginal and / or Torres Strait Islander Person.
