What we're looking for
Our ideal candidate will be someone who can demonstrate the following:
Principal House Officer
Knowledge, expertise and skill in the assessment and clinical management of people with mental illness.
Effective interpersonal, communication, negotiation and organisational skills including the ability to work effectively and efficiently within a multidisciplinary team.
Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional education including development and maintenance of personal knowledge and skills.
Registrar
Advanced clinical skills in general medicine.
Provides patient care by demonstrating qualities of maturity, empathy and time management as well as communicating soundly with patients.
Develops own learning experience by seeking out opportunities to learn, attending learning programs and teaching others.
Mandatory Requirements:
Vaccinated against, and remain vaccinated against, certain vaccine preventable diseases (VPD) as outlined in the Health Employment Directive NO. 01/16.
MBBS or equivalent qualification registrable with the Medical Board of Australia.
Minimum requirement - completed two years postgraduate or the equivalent (i.e. if an internship is counted as undergraduate component of a medical degree - this internship can be counted as one postgraduate year) and completed a full term in Psychiatry (10 weeks- this experience can be gained overseas). Those who have finished basic training as per the requirements of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists will be given opportunities to complete advanced training in general adult psychiatry.
