Position: Junior Lawyer / Compliance Analyst

Location: Brisbane, Australia or remote within the United States

Our team operates across the United States and APAC to run institutional-grade validator infrastructure on a 24/365 basis. Our services sit at the intersection of public blockchain protocols and capital markets.

Job Summary

We are looking for a Junior Lawyer or Compliance Analyst to support our legal and operations teams. The role spans transactional support, regulatory research, KYC, KYB and AML/CTF compliance, and corporate commercial work across the MAVAN group.

The role suits someone genuinely curious about complex, evolving regulatory and commercial problems. Institutional staking, public blockchain infrastructure, and digital asset regulation are areas of active development across every jurisdiction we operate in. Be confident, communicate clearly, propose considered paths, and you will do well. You will report directly to the General Counsel, APAC and have regular working contact across all areas of the business.

Key Responsibilities

Process KYC, KYB, and AML/CTF onboarding under the supervision of the General Counsel.
Maintain contract databases, legal precedent libraries, and SLA reporting across institutional client engagements.
Assist with policy drafting, risk assessments, and compliance reporting obligations.
Monthly transaction monitoring reporting.
Support transactional work across the group, including commercial agreements, MSAs, and NDAs.
Conduct regulatory research across US and Australia, with a focus on digital asset regulations and non-custodial staking.
Support engagement with regulators, custodians, and external counsel across multiple jurisdictions.
Manage DocuSign workflows and the contract lifecycle from engagement through execution and renewal.
Support corporate secretarial work across US and Australian entities, including resolutions, registers, and filings.
Improve and manage internal processes through structured use of AI tooling, document automation, and internal data systems.

Key Requirements

Currently 1-3 Year+ PAE and have completed a degree in Law (LLB and/or LLM great to have), Finance, Business, or a related field also useful. Alternatively, a JD candidate, recent JD, or compliance professional with relevant experience. Bar admission is not required for the analyst track. It is preferred for the attorney track.
Genuine working interest in US federal securities and commodities regulations. Familiarity with the 1933 Act, 1934 Act, Investment Advisers Act, Commodity Exchange Act, and the Bank Secrecy Act is highly valued.
Familiarity with the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth), the AML/CTF Act 2006 (Cth) and Rules, ASIC RG 227 and INFO 225, and the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) is highly valued.
Working understanding of Ethereum and proof-of-stake mechanics, or rapid willingness to develop one. Knowledge of validator economics, and consensus client architecture is a plus.
Kind, hardworking and smart.
Working understanding of Ethereum and public blockchain infrastructure, or willingness to develop one quickly.
Familiarity with the Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) and AFSL regime, or US federal securities regulation, depending on candidate location.
Demonstrated use of AI tooling in workflows, including research, drafting, and analysis.
Experience in financial service adjacent regulation, capital markets, and the economics of public blockchain networks.
