At our Childcare centre, we are dedicated to creating healthy and safe communities. We are seeking an experienced, qualified Early Childhood Teacher "ECT" to join our team on a Full-time basis.
The Early Childhood Teachers We Seek:
You will either hold or be working towards a Bachelor of Education (Early Childhood 0 - 8 years) or equivalent degree for childcare education. Your passion for early childhood education will be matched by your reflective nature, analytical skills, sense of curiosity and fun.
Tasks and responsibilities
- To ensure centre's philosophy, policies and procedures are adhered to at all times.
- Maintain a clean and hygienic environment at all times and attend to the personal hygiene of all children.
- To ensure the room set-ups are engaging and meet the requirements of EYLF.
- Attend to the nutritional needs of all children.
- Respond to any accident, emergency or threat.
- To ensure adequate supervision at all times.
- To treat all children fairly and equally at all times.
- Develop, implement and follow centre and room routines.
- To be a positive role model for the children at all times particularly with the use of positive language at all times.
- Be responsible for the room, assistant caregivers and children in your care
- Contribute to the maintenance and care of the buildings and equipment.
- To maintain confidentiality at all times.
Programming
- Undertake and be responsible for the observation and programming of the children.
- Ensure that all records are maintained accurately for all children in their care.
- Prepare an environment based on the requirements of the program.
- Create an environment that is warm, stimulating and aesthetically inviting and attractive.
- Setting up of indoor and outdoor environments for activities.
- To implement and display your philosophy, programming and strategies at all times.
- To have a current program on display at all times.
- To have programs available for the Centre Coordinator to approve and print for Display.
- Provide parents with verbal and written information about the program, room goals and objectives- through posters, newsletters and parent nights.
- To be aware that all children have different needs and levels of development and to foster their self-esteem and independence.
Foster and facilitate the child's development as a whole.
Professional Development
- To seek and participate in further professional development
- Remain up to date with Early Childhood practices and their implementation.
- Provide support and input into the professional development of other staff members.
- To be willing to attend Staff Meetings, Staff Training and in-services as required.
Leadership
- Work under the direction of the Centre Director & Manager.
- To direct assistant caregivers, students and volunteers in their duties.
- Ensure that the room is a happy, healthy and safe environment for children.
- Be responsible for administering of medication.
- To refer parents with comments or queries about the centre or it's policies to the Centre Manager.
- To liaise appropriately with the parents and members of the centres community.
- Respect and support families
- Participate in appropriate administrative duties as required.
- Work with the Centre Manager and other staff to maintain an efficiently run centre at all times.
- To be aware of and implement all necessary parts of the National Quality Framework.
- Maintain and contribute to a team approach at all times.
Qualifications & experience
- 1-3 years’ previous experience in a leading service (long day care setting preferable) or equivalent role.
- Bachelor of Education or Working towards in Early Childhood Education and Care.
- A Valid Working with Children Check or willing to obtain.
- Current First Aid, Asthma and Anaphylaxis or willing to obtain.
- Confident when communicating with all levels of management.
- Knowledge of the Early Years Learning Framework
- Thorough understanding of Early Years Learning Framework & My Time Our Place
- National Regulations and National Quality Standards
- Great written and verbal communication skills
