Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

three girls skipping is a busy café, bakehouse and catering business in Graceville, offering a seasonal all-day menu, monthly rotating cake and tart specials, and a full-service catering arm. The Chef is responsible for the preparation and cooking of dishes across the café menu and catering service, contributing to menu development, maintaining food safety standards, and supporting the smooth day-to-day running of the kitchen.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepare and cook dishes across the seasonal café all-day menu to a consistently high standard
Prepare cakes, tarts, roulades and other baked goods for the monthly rotating specials/orders
Oversee food preparation, plating and kitchen workflow during service
Support catering production for off-site and on-site events, including client functions
Manage stock control, ordering and kitchen organisation
Maintain food safety, hygiene and workplace health and safety standards in line with regulations
Train and supervise kitchen staff as required
Contribute to menu development and seasonal specials, working closely with the business owner
Liaise with front-of-house and catering staff to ensure smooth service

SELECTION CRITERIA

Essential

Trade qualification as a Chef, or equivalent industry experience
Proven experience working in a busy café, restaurant or catering kitchen
Pastry experience, with confidence producing cakes, tarts and baked goods
Strong working knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices
Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure during service
Excellent organisational and time-management skills
A collaborative, hands-on approach to kitchen work

Desirable

Experience with catering or event-based food production
Experience training or supervising junior kitchen staff
An interest in seasonal, produce-driven menu development

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

Reports directly to the business owner/operator
Works closely with kitchen and catering staff
Liaises with front-of-house staff to coordinate service
