About the Role
Mona Farm is seeking an experienced and passionate Senior Gardener to join our grounds team and help maintain and evolve the exceptional landscapes that define the Mona Farm experience.
This is a hands-on role suited to someone with strong horticultural knowledge, excellent attention to detail and pride in maintaining high-end gardens and outdoor spaces to an exceptional standard.
Working closely with the Grounds team, you will assist in the day-to-day care, presentation and ongoing development of the gardens, lawns, trees and landscaped areas across both Mona Farm and its sister properties.
The role includes a mix of garden maintenance, planting, seasonal preparation, irrigation management and landscape improvement projects across the property.
The position is a permanent full-time or part-time role and may require work at both onsite and offsite locations as rostered.
Responsibilities
Maintain gardens, lawns, hedges, trees and landscaped areas to a consistently high standard
Undertake planting, mulching, pruning, fertilising and weed management
Assist with seasonal garden planning and implementation
Monitor and maintain irrigation systems
Operate and maintain gardening equipment and machinery safely
Identify and manage plant health issues, pests and diseases
Support the preparation and presentation of the estate for weddings, events and guest stays
Assist with landscape improvement and horticultural projects
Work collaboratively with the broader maintenance and operations team
Ensure safe work practices and contribute to maintaining a clean and organised work environment
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
A qualification in Horticulture or a minimum of 3+ years’ experience in a similar role
Strong plant knowledge and practical horticultural skills
Experience maintaining high-quality gardens or landscaped estates
The ability to work independently and proactively
Excellent attention to detail and a strong work ethic
A positive attitude and willingness to contribute as part of a team
A current driver’s license and your own vehicle
Experience operating gardening equipment and machinery safely
Highly regarded:
Experience working within luxury hospitality, public gardens or large private estates
Irrigation knowledge or experience
Chainsaw or chemical handling certifications
