About the Company
We are an established sheet metal manufacturing company based in Braeside, Victoria, specialising in the manufacture of high-quality rectangular and spiral ductwork and other sheet metal products for the HVAC industry.
Due to continued business growth, we are seeking an experienced and reliable Metal Fabricator to join our production team on a full-time basis.
About the Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for fabricating and assembling sheet metal products in accordance with drawings, specifications and production requirements.
The role involves working with galvanised steel and other sheet metal materials and using a range of hand tools, power tools and sheet metal fabrication machinery.
Key Responsibilities
- Read and interpret technical drawings, fabrication drawings and specifications.
- Measure, mark, cut and prepare sheet metal materials accurately.
- Fabricate and assemble rectangular and spiral ductwork and other sheet metal components.
- Operate sheet metal fabrication machinery and equipment safely and efficiently.
- Use hand tools and power tools including drills, grinders, riveters and other fabrication equipment.
- Perform folding, bending, cutting, drilling, riveting and joining of sheet metal components.
- Assemble ductwork and associated components in accordance with drawings and production requirements.
- Check dimensions, workmanship and finished products to ensure they meet required specifications and quality standards.
- Identify and rectify fabrication issues where required.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe work area.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures and safe operating procedures.
- Conduct routine checks of tools and equipment and report any faults or hazards.
- Work effectively as part of a production team to meet daily production and delivery requirements.
- Assist with general workshop and production duties as required.
Skills and Experience
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Metal Fabricator, Sheet Metal Fabricator or in a similar fabrication role.
- Experience working with sheet metal, preferably in HVAC ductwork manufacturing.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and measurements.
- Good understanding of sheet metal fabrication processes.
- Ability to accurately measure, cut, fold, assemble and finish sheet metal products.
- Experience using sheet metal machinery and fabrication tools.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and problem-solving skills.
- Strong commitment to workplace health and safety.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Qualifications
A relevant trade qualification in Metal Fabrication, Sheet Metal Fabrication or a related field is desirable.
Relevant industry experience will also be highly regarded.
