BBQ School is a national cooking school and events company, delivering weekly cooking classes and corporate team-building events across Sydney, the Hunter Valley, and Australia. Our mission is to create fun, hands-on cooking experiences while showcasing our partners and sponsors.
We’re seeking a passionate and reliable Kitchen Hand & Events Assistant to join our team for regular weekend shifts (primarily Sundays). If you’re energetic, organised, and thrive in a fast-paced environment, this role is for you.
Role Overview
This is a hands-on role supporting both kitchen operations and event delivery. You’ll work closely with the team to ensure every class and event runs smoothly and delivers a high-quality customer experience.
The Role: Kitchen Hand & Events Allrounder
- Kitchen Prep & Cleanliness: Maintain a clean, organised kitchen, assist with prep, and manage efficient pack-down after events
- Customer Experience: Engage with customers, support instructors, and help create a fun, high-energy atmosphere
- Event Operations: Assist with full event delivery (setup, service flow, and pack-down)
- Stock Control: Manage opening and closing stock, track product usage and retail sales, and report restocking needs to HQ
- POS & Check-ins: Check in customers using our booking system and process retail sales through POS systems (training provided)
- Social Media & Content (IMPORTANT!): Confidently capture and post Instagram Stories during events, including tagging sponsors and ensuring brand alignment (training provided)
- (preferred, not compulsory) Logistics: Assist with transporting equipment and supplies; driver’s licence preferred (company vehicle provided)
Key Requirements
- Experience: Background in hospitality, events, kitchen work, or social media preferred
- Customer Service: Friendly, confident, and comfortable engaging with customers and team members
- Social Media Skills: Confident using Instagram Stories to capture and post real-time content, including sponsor tagging
- Tech Skills: Comfortable using systems like Square and Rezdy, or quick to learn
- Reliability: Available to work weekends (primarily Saturdays and Sundays) with flexibility for events and mid-week events reguarly
- Driver’s Licence: Preferred but not essential
- RSA: Required

Pay: $28.00 – $30.00 per hour
