About Bungalow Collective
Bungalow Collective is a founder-led hospitality and lifestyle group operating three distinct brands across Sydney — House of Bungalow (Surry Hills), a premium multi-zone cafe, restaurant and nightclub destination; The Bungalow Petersham, a neighbourhood hospitality venue; and The Serenity Bungalow, a wellness and lifestyle concept. Each brand has its own identity, but the group is built on a shared philosophy: considered design, warm hospitality, and experiences that leave an impression.
This is a growing, ambitious business. We move fast, care about the detail, and hold ourselves to a high standard across everything we put our name on.
The Role
This is not a traditional operations role and it is not a traditional EA role. It is both — and then some.
You will be the founder’s right hand across all three venues and the broader Collective. You will sit at the intersection of operations, administration, people, and marketing. One day you will be reviewing payroll across three venues. The next you will be briefing a content creator, drafting a supplier communication, or helping onboard a new team member.
The right person for this role is someone who is obsessively organised, commercially switched on, and genuinely excited by hospitality. You do not need to have worked in hospitality management before — but you need to understand what it takes to run a business well and what it means to represent a premium brand in everything you do.
The role is primarily based at House of Bungalow in Surry Hills but requires regular travel across all three venues. Saturday is a standard work day given the nature of the business.
What You’ll Be Responsible For
Operations
- Day-to-day operational oversight across House of Bungalow, The Bungalow Petersham, and The Serenity Bungalow
- Maintaining compliance across all venues — employment law, licensing, insurance, and regulatory requirements
- Managing supplier relationships, purchase orders, and vendor contracts
- Overseeing payroll processing and leave management via QuickBooks
- Coordinating with external advisors including accountants, immigration consultants, and legal counsel
- Building and maintaining SOPs, playbooks, and internal documentation across the group
- Tracking key operational metrics and flagging issues before they become problems
Executive Support
- Managing the founder’s calendar, communications, and priorities
- Drafting correspondence on behalf of the founder — emails, proposals, offers, and responses
- Preparing briefing documents, meeting notes, and follow-up actions
- Coordinating across the core team (venue managers, head chef, entertainment manager) to ensure alignment and accountability
- Acting as the first point of contact for external stakeholders when the founder is unavailable
People & Culture
- Supporting recruitment — writing job descriptions, managing candidate pipelines, coordinating interviews
- Onboarding new team members — contracts, access, inductions, and first-week set-up
- Monitoring team wellbeing, flagging performance concerns, and helping manage sensitive HR matters with discretion
- Helping maintain the culture and standards the Collective is known for
Marketing Support
- Assisting with content coordination across Instagram and other platforms — briefing creators and reviewing copy
- Supporting the management of brand assets, photo libraries, and campaign timelines
- Keeping an eye on community engagement, reviews, and brand reputation online
What We’re Looking For
Essential
- Exceptional written and verbal communication — you write clearly, professionally, and in a voice that fits the brand
- Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities without dropping anything
- High emotional intelligence and discretion — you will be privy to sensitive business and personal information
- Confidence working with numbers — payroll, budgets, P&L summaries, and supplier invoices should not intimidate you
- A proactive mindset — you anticipate what is needed and move before being asked
- Proficiency in Google Workspace and familiarity with tools like QuickBooks or similar accounting software
- Full Australian working rights — you must be eligible to work in Australia without restriction
Desirable
- Prior experience in hospitality, events, or a fast-moving service business
- Exposure to digital marketing, content scheduling, or social media management
- Experience supporting a founder, director, or senior executive directly
- Familiarity with Australian employment law, Fair Work, and Modern Award structures
What This Role Is Not
This role is not nine-to-five. It is not siloed. And it is not for someone who needs a clearly defined lane to operate in. The business is growing and the role will grow with it. If you are looking for a static job description you can stick to, this is not the right fit.

- Path to full time in less than 6 months
- A front-row seat in a genuinely exciting hospitality group at a pivotal moment in its growth
- Direct access to and mentorship from the founder
- The opportunity to shape how the business is run across three venues — and more in the future
- A culture that takes quality seriously without taking itself too seriously
