Davenport Campbell, a multidisciplinary design studio specialising in workplace interior environments, is seeking a Mid-weight Wayfinding & Signage Designer to join our in-house team at our Sydney CBD office.

About the role
Over the past five years, we have been developing our environmental, signage and graphics capability to the point that we have now formed an in-house team to support our workplace designers, and to provide a stand alone service that we offer to the market.
This role will primarily focus on the planning, strategy, and design and implementation of our Signage and Graphic projects.

Key responsibilities
- Work directly alongside Head of the Graphics
- Attend job briefs with senior members of Interiors team
- Work on Wayfinding and Signage projects across the whole project lifespan from briefing and concepts through to documentation and installation
- Produce Signage strategy documents including implementation of Signage hierarchies and ability to templatise Signage Systems
- Liaise with clients, consultants and suppliers as necessary
- Collaborate within a team
- Manage a range of scale projects across multiple sectors
- Produce specification documentation for Signage and Graphic projects, this includes the use of SignAgent software for location planning
- Manage workflow of all jobs assigned. Alert the Head of Graphics and Project Lead of any changes in scope or deadlines
- Identify design issues that affect User and Signage functionality and offer graphic solutions
- Graphic layout of signage and graphics
- Work with senior team to produce tender and construction documentation of Signage projects
Competencies and experience required
- 3+ years industry experience
- Experience on large-scale Signage projects including: Identification, Directional, Operational and Statutory Signtypes
- High-level design aesthetic
- Adept at taking job briefs and notes during meeting
- An architectural sensibility, skill, and experience desirable
- Ability to maintain a high-level production quality and output with every deadline
- Ability to maintain quality control in print production, typography, shop drawing review and proofreading
- Production knowledge when it comes to implementing Signage and Graphic design concepts
- Production knowledge for the creation of artwork files for production
- Strong communication skills – articulate, friendly, confident, and collaborative
- Strong problem-solving skills in approaching each design task within the broader context of all ongoing project deadlines, rather than treating projects in isolation
- Ability to work efficiently and manage time across multiple projects at once
- Ability to handle urgent requests and client demands in a calm manner
- Work under pressure with simultaneous deadlines
- Able to understand Architectural plans, Australian Standards, NCC and BCA requirements
- Solid knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite
- Experience with SignAgent is ideal
- Experience with 3D Software such as Blender is ideal
- Experience with MS Excel is ideal
Qualifications
- Diploma, Degree or higher; or equivalent years’ experience in Graphic Design, Architecture
