We have an exciting opportunity for an Assistant - OOSH position to undertake the daily operation of Council's centre's and be committed to educating and nurturing children from all communities to be respectful, resilient and confident. You will transport children safely to and from school each day, assist in the kitchen to deliver a nutritional meal and in the delivery of an innovative and educational program.
The successful applicant will require:
- No formal qualification required
- Working with Children Check clearance
- Working knowledge and understanding of programs for school aged children
- Completion of Child Protection Course CHCPRT025 – Identify and report children and young people at risk or a former valid unit (CHCPRT001)
- Current HLTAID012 Provide First Aid in an Educational Setting, including asthma and anaphylaxis
- Current HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation
- Completion of the National Child Safety Training (Geccko).
- Completion of NSW Government Food Handler Basics training (or willing to obtain)
- Proven skills and experience in the following areas:
- Passion for Education and care
- Customer service
- Communication skills in written and oral format
- Computer operating systems
- Effective time management and organisational skills.

About this role:
- 1x permanent part-time position
- Working 20 hours per fortnight, Monday to Friday from 2:30pm - 4:30pm
- Located at Council's Parramatta West OOSH and may be required to work across any of Council’s work locations
Salary information: The salary and conditions of employment are in accordance with the NSW Local Government (State) Award.
- Grade 2 of the Cumberland Salary Structure with an hourly rate of $29.42 to $36.04 per hour plus 12% superannuation
- The commencing salary will be negotiated, taking into consideration the successful applicant's qualifications, skills and experience related to the role
- Cumberland City Council has successfully been approved for funding under the Commonwealth Government’s ‘Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) Worker Retention Payment Grant. This grant will provide an additional retention allowance to increase their wages in line with the federal Children’s Services Award 2010 and applies until 30 November 2026.
The payment of the Worker Retention Payment allowance is not a condition of employment with Council and is subject to the Worker Retention Payment allowance being fully funded by the Commonwealth Government. Should this retention allowance cease to be paid by the Commonwealth Government, Council will also cease payment of the ECEC Worker Retention Payment Grant to staff.
