Nanny Wanted
Sadly our current nanny is moving on, so we are looking for someone new to join our little family and support myself (solo mum) and my wonderful 8-year-old son during the day, Monday–Friday approximately 8:00am–5:00pm.
Hours can sometimes be slightly less, but generally not more than this. I work within the medical field, so occasional flexibility is appreciated.
Located around the Birkdale area
$30–$35 per hour depending on experience
This role would particularly suit someone interested in:
- Inclusion support
- Psychology / OT / teaching students
- Nannying with a more connection-based approach
- Or simply someone kind, calm and playful who genuinely enjoys spending time with children
The role will include:
- Attending a small private school with my son to support his transition back into the school environment after some time away.
- Providing calm, reassuring support during transitions.
- Helping create a positive, safe and secure experience at school while he gradually rebuilds confidence and trust.
- Staying alongside him for part of the morning to help him feel supported before finishing the school session (currently on a reduced timetable).
After school, the afternoons are much more relaxed and connection-focused, and may include:
- Regulating together over lunch (usually outdoors or chatting together.
- Planning fun and engaging activities together rather than simply supervising
- Bike rides, swimming, baking, library visits, train rides, parks, meet-ups with other homeschool families/nannies, imaginative play and shared interests
Because this is a long day together, my hope is to find someone who genuinely enjoys building connection, being playful, and creating a calm rhythm to the day.
You must also be comfortable with:
- One very loved sausage dog and two cats (animals definitely outnumber humans in this house)
Requirements:
- Blue Card / WWCC
- Driver’s licence and car
- ABN
- Some experience working with children
To protect our privacy, I haven’t gone into full detail publicly about our unique schooling situation and support needs, but I’m very happy to answer questions privately.
We are a gentle, close little family who value kindness, emotional safety, respect and thoughtful communication. My son and I are hoping to find someone warm and genuine who can become a trusted and supportive part of his world while he rebuilds confidence around other adults and school again.
If this sounds like something you would love, please send me a message. Interviews will begin shortly, with the role likely starting in around 5–6 weeks.
Pay: $30.00 – $35.00 per hour
