Emmanuel College is seeking an exceptional Learning Support Educational Assistant to join our amazing community on a fixed-term basis, 4.5 days per week. This contract is initially for Term 3 and 4, 2026 with the possibility of permanency in 2027.

We are looking for a self-motivated and engaged individual to support students predominantly in years 7-10 in English, Humanities and Science.
The candidate requires experience in supporting students with learning challenges, and must have strong literacy and English skills.
The role will be Part Time, operating from Monday – Thursday 8:00am-3:30pm and Friday 8am-1pm (term-time only).

Position Description
Position Overview
The Learning Support Educational Assistant (LSEA) provides support to Senior School students with disabilities and learning needs, both in and out of the classroom, as directed by the Class Teacher; and assistance with departmental responsibilities, such as administration and playground duties, as directed by Head of Learning Support.
Accountability & Reporting Lines
This position reports directly to the Head of Learning Support.
The Educational Assistant will also work alongside classroom teachers for support students both in and out of the classroom.
Occupational Requirements & Qualifications
The Learning Support Educational Assistant must have:
- Current Blue Card
- Current CPR
- Certificate IV Learning/Educational Support (preferred, but not required

Skills & Competencies
The Learning Support Educational Assistant must:
- Be conversant with Office 365, Schoolbox and associated platforms/technology commonly used throughout the College, including highly competent ICT skills.
- Possess an understanding of the philosophy of Christian Education and be able to translate it into effective practice in an environment that promotes wellbeing.
- Exhibit genuine care and concern for children and possess a willingness to supervise and support them in day to day ‘school’ life.
- Possess highly developed interpersonal, communication and human relations skills to successfully interact and support staff, parents and children of all ages.
- Be physically capable of providing care and supervision of students and to fulfil the daily demands of the playground and classroom including cleaning, physical activities and games, creating displays etc.
- Able to work both independently and collaboratively, maintaining confidentiality and reliability in meeting commitments.
- Assist in the development, implementation and review of current systems, programs, strategies and services to support the diverse needs of students
Duties and Responsibilities:
Learning & Disability Support
- Support Learning Support students in Year 7-10 across a broad range of subject areas within current curriculum requirements and teacher expectations.
- Assist in the Student Adjustment Plan (SAP) process.
- Assist in the management of the NCCD collection process (via OneNote)
- With broad guidance from academic staff, support small groups or individuals with general learning tasks and organisation.
- Provide feedback to class teachers and Learning Support staff on student progress where necessary.
- Facilitate and oversee the running of lunchtime social clubs for students, managed by the Learning Support Department.
- Assist with general administration duties of the Learning Support Department as required.
- Assist academic staff with the administration of standardised tests and specialist reports.
- Provide one on one support to students in accordance with their needs. This may include: developing social skills, scribing when required, technology support, providing adjustments during assessments, support with extra curricular activities such as sport, swimming etc.
- Find, create and use resources for students with specific needs.
- Attend excursions and camps as negotiated with Head of Learning Support.
Development – Professional and Other
- Demonstrate a willingness to contribute to the spiritual growth and fellowship of the Emmanuel community
- Comply with all College policies and QCT/AITSL Professional Standards
- Demonstrate a commitment to ongoing personal growth and professional development, including in information technology, by diligently undertaking courses and learning opportunities provided or required by the College, as well as through personal initiative.
Co-Curricular Involvement
- Actively contribute to the school’s co-curricular program, including participation in out-of-school hours coaching of sport teams
- Participate in activities, camps, excursions and events that contribute to the student experience
- Attend in-service courses and out of hours school functions as required by the College.
Other Responsibilities
- Regularly attend Staff Devotions, Worship and Chapel Services, including the Principal’s Briefings
- Undertake duties as timetabled and allocated by Head of Learning Support (across Junior and Senior campuses), including sport, lunch time and yard duty.
- Attend staff meetings, Parent/Teacher Meetings and interviews
- Maintain confidentiality of school matters
- Be aware of and adhere to the requirements of the Child Protection Policy, College Work Health & Safety and other College policies and procedures as found on Schoolbox (the College intranet)
- Perform all other reasonable duties in line with this role as directed from time to time.
Child Protection
The College supports the rights of children and young people and is committed to the safety, welfare and wellbeing of students. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment by:
- Being informed of their responsibilities in relation to child protection including, but not limited to, all Child Protection training and being familiar with the Child Protection Code of Conduct

- Immediately reporting any suspicions of inappropriate, unlawful or unusual behaviour of students, colleagues or visitors to the College, to abide by the duty of care to protect students and staff from harm, from self or others.
- Be diligent and punctual with playground and rostered duties, and other school timelines
Work Health and Safety
To comply with WHS legislation, all employees are responsible for the safety of themselves, students, visitors, volunteers and colleagues by being proactive in their duty of care. This includes, but is not limited to:
- Carrying out work practices in accordance with current WHS standard
- Complying with and being supportive of all WHS requirements and initiatives as published on Schoolbox
- Following all safety procedures and instructions
- Identifying and reporting any hazards or safety issues to the College WHS Officer or designated representative
- Reporting all accidents and incidents involving students
- Completing and submitting risk assessments as required
- Ensuring that no equipment, materials, appliances or chemicals are brought to the College which do not meet the required safety standards, including being tested and tagged and included in the relevant register
- Ensuring that no third-party workers, contractors or volunteers are engaged without having notified the WHS officer and ensured the completion of all required checks and documentation
- Undertaking all WHS training as required.
