Do you have a strong eye for detail and enjoy providing excellent customer service? Berrigan Shire Council is seeking a dedicated and organised professional to join our Customer Experience team, supporting community enquiries while coordinating the administration of Council’s cemeteries.
As our Customer Experience – Cemeteries Support Officer, you will play an important role in both delivering frontline customer service and coordinating the administration of Council’s cemeteries. This position supports community enquiries through phone, front counter and email while ensuring the efficient coordination of interments, cemetery records, and operational activities. You will work closely with families, funeral directors and internal teams to ensure cemetery services are managed professionally, respectfully and in accordance with legislative requirements.
This position is ideal for someone who enjoys a structured role, has strong attention to detail, and values providing excellent customer service while managing important administrative responsibilities.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Customer Enquiries – Provide friendly and professional customer service to residents, ratepayers and stakeholders by responding to enquiries via phone, front counter, and email, ensuring requests are recorded and actioned appropriately.
- Cemetery Administration – Coordinate and manage the administration of Council’s cemeteries including interments, scheduling works, and maintaining accurate cemetery records.
- Planning & Compliance – Administer cemetery management plans, policies and procedures in accordance with legislative requirements and assist with resolving issues as they arise.
- Administration & Team Contribution – Manage correspondence, bookings, records and ordering of materials while working collaboratively within the Customer Experience team to deliver helpful service to residents, ratepayers and Council stakeholders.
What You’ll Need:
- A valid Australian Driver’s Licence and ability to maintain.
- Good level of verbal and written communication skills.
- The ability to work respectfully and professionally in emotionally sensitive situations and team environments.

This position is a full-time position classified at Grade D, Entry Level under Council’s salary structure with a salary range based on qualifications and experience from $64,652.95 to $72,767.06 per annum plus 12% statutory superannuation. Conditions are in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2023.
