Berrigan Shire Council is looking for a motivated Accountant to help drive strong financial outcomes and support our community. The primary purpose of this role is to provide high level support to ensure the effective delivery of financial and accounting services that meet Council’s regulatory, statutory and operational requirements.
What You’ll Be Doing:
- Be at the centre of Council’s finances, supporting monthly and quarterly reporting
- Help keep us compliant with BAS, FBT, and key regulatory requirements
- Play a key role in end-of-month and year-end processes, including audits
- Contribute to shaping Council’s budget and long-term financial future
- Support and guide colleagues across the organisation on financial matters
What You’ll Need:
- A qualification in Accounting
- Strong organisation skills and the ability to stay on top of deadlines
- Confidence using Excel and financial systems
- High attention to detail and clear communication skills
- Current Driver’s Licence

This is a full-time position classified as Grade K (Entry Level) under Council’s current salary structure. The salary range is $101,719.26 to $114,485.25 per annum, commensurate with qualifications and experience, plus 12% superannuation. The role is based on a 70-hour, 9-day fortnight, with employment conditions in accordance with the Local Government (State) Award 2026.
