Our Protected Vehicles team works closely with clients to design, manufacture, maintain and upgrade protected vehicles that keep people safe, all around the world. YOUR ROLE
Working from our Bendigo site on Dja Dja Wurrung land, your role purpose is to commence and complete a registered apprenticeship in Certificate III in Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology which is typically a 4-year apprenticeship.
Heavy Commercial Vehicle technician’s role reflects the individuals who maintain, test and repair diesel motors and the mechanical parts of trucks and other heavy vehicles such as transmissions, suspension, steering and brakes, using a range of processes, tools and machines.
Detect and diagnoses faults in engines and parts
Dismantle and remove engine assemblies, transmissions, steering mechanisms, brake assemblies and other components, and checks parts
Repair and replaces worn and defective parts and reassembles mechanical components, and refer to service manuals as needed
Reassembles engine components and parts after being repaired
YOUR EXPERIENCE
As a first-year apprentice, we'll expect you to bring the following skills and behaviours:
Genuine interest in gaining a trade qualification
Sound literacy and numeracy skills
Ability to work as part of a team
Strong communication skills
AUSTRALIAN DEFENCE ROLES & SECURITY
A Defence security clearance is required for this role, applicants must be Australian citizens and eligible to obtain and maintain an appropriate clearance.
Additional information with regards to clearances is available from the Australian Government Security Vetting Agency website http://www.defence.gov.au/AGSVA/. In some cases, individuals who hold a current clearance from a foreign government may be eligible to have this clearance recognised by the Australian Government and be eligible for this role. The Australian Defence Trade Controls Act (DTCA) is applicable and as such, your nationality may be a factor in determining your suitability for this role.
