Job Description
Bega Valley Shire Council is seeking a motivated and skilled Engineering Technologist to join our Assets and Operations team. This position plays a key role in supporting the planning, management, assessment, and continuous improvement of the Council's transport, stormwater, and drainage infrastructure assets.

Key Requirements
- Minimum Bachelor's Degree in Engineering (Civil Engineering, Transport Engineering, Environmental Engineering or closely related field).
- Minimum 1 year of full-time relevant work experience in a similar engineering role.
- Sound knowledge of engineering principles, asset management practices, and infrastructure planning.
- Understanding of relevant legislation, standards, and engineering specifications applicable to transport and drainage infrastructure.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with engineers, consultants, contractors, government agencies, and other stakeholders.
- Current Australian Driver Licence or ability to obtain one.
What You'll Do
- Research, identify and recommend engineering technologies and innovative solutions to support transport and drainage infrastructure programs.
- Apply engineering technologies and technical methodologies to planning, asset management, and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring transport, drainage, stormwater, and floodplain management programs.
- Conduct inspections, condition assessments, audits, and site investigations relating to transport and drainage assets.
- Analyse engineering data and prepare technical reports, recommendations, and project documentation.
- Assist in developing and maintaining asset management plans and infrastructure risk management strategies.
- Collaborate with engineers, consultants, government authorities, and other professionals to develop and implement engineering solutions.
- Support project development activities, including budget estimates, planning studies, and program delivery.
- Utilise contemporary technologies and data collection methods, including asset management systems, GIS, GPS, remote sensing, and related engineering software.
- Review engineering systems and processes and recommend improvements to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with relevant legislation, standards, Council policies, and industry best practices.
- Provide technical advice and support relating to transport and drainage infrastructure assets.
- Participate in stakeholder consultation, liaison, and customer engagement activities as required.
