About the role
Permanent Part-time - 56 hours per fortnight
This is an excellent opportunity to step into a role where you will be part of a small team and get involved in activities that support delivering valued outcomes for the organisation. The Governance Officer provides support for the strategic development, implementation and maintenance of high-quality governance systems across the organisation that supports transparent and effective decision making and operations. You will be responsible for a diverse portfolio including:
- Provide Support to Council's Governance Functions.
- Provide support and coordination for governance matters relating to Council's Committees.
- Administer Council's FOI processes.
- Administer Council's governance processes and systems.
About you
We're looking for a highly organised and professional person with excellent communication skills who enjoys working collaboratively, managing competing priorities and handling sensitive information with discretion. Experience in governance or local government is welcome but not essential—we value transferable skills and a willingness to learn. You will have:
- Strong organisational, administration and time management skills, with excellent written and verbal communication.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to quickly learn new systems and software.
- A collaborative approach, sound judgement, tact and diplomacy, with the ability to manage confidential information.
- Ability to influence and support a wide range of stakeholders.
Certificate IV in Business (or similar) or relevant administrative experience; knowledge of FOI or local government legislation is an advantage but training can be provided.
