THE POSITION
Based at 50 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne and reporting to the Manager Consequence and Planning, this role is responsible for planning, coordinating, and maintaining Ambulance Victoria's response to major state-wide events to minimise operational impact while meeting legal and community expectations. It also plays a key role in emergency situations, contributing to or leading functions within the Emergency Management Unit (EMU) or the Ambulance Emergency Operations Centre (AEOC). This is a Full Time, Permanent position. While WFH/Hybrid options are available, it is essential that the successful applicant maintains a presence at 50 Lonsdale Street, Melbourne, in line with our hybrid working model.
With a focus on patient safety and quality outcomes, key accountabilities include but are not limited to:
- Lead and coordinate public event operations: ensuring timely, effective delivery of Ambulance Victoria services and appropriate resource allocation
- Manage event planning and risk assessment processes: including event evaluation, operational documentation, and post-event reviews to drive continuous improvement
- Oversee financial and resource management: including budgeting, cost recovery, forecasting, and collaboration with stakeholders to optimise efficiency
- Provide leadership in incident and emergency management: while building strong stakeholder relationships to support high-quality service delivery and compliance

QUALIFICATIONS
- Ahpra Paramedic Registration
- Possess or/willing to attain an Authority to Practice with Ambulance Victoria
- Solid knowledge of and experience in ambulance service delivery operations supported by an ambulance paramedic qualification
- Desirable: Tertiary qualifications in Emergency Management, along with Australasian Interagency Incident Management System (AIIMS), Level 3 Incident Controller, and Health Commander qualifications
ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIRMENTS
- Demonstrated experience in public event and emergency management, including planning, delivery and post-event review
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to prepare clear, concise reports and effectively engage with diverse stakeholders, complemented by strong collaboration, negotiation, and influencing capabilities
- Proven leadership experience, with the ability to motivate teams and achieve operational outcomes
- Well-developed stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills across internal and external partners
- Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritise work and remain calm under pressure
- Availability outside ordinary working hours to provide advice, support, and intervention in emergency or time-critical incidents (CAA2 level)

Selection for the State Events Coordinator role will be conducted in two stages:
STAGE ONE - Written application (Resume and Cover Letter)
You will be required to upload two documents as part of your written application, which will form an integral part of the selection process and should be of a high quality including:

STAGE TWO - Formal Panel Interview
Candidates who progress to this stage will undertake a formal panel interview. Final rankings will be determined using an overall weighted score, with Stage One and Stage Two each contributing 50%.
