About

Equinox is a Thorne Harbour Health (THH) operated health service that caters exclusively to our Trans and Gender Diverse (TGD) communities. The primary objective of Equinox is to reduce the barriers that TGD people face in accessing primary health care services and to contribute to the health and wellbeing of these communities. We offer mental health, sexual health, hormone management and a full range of GP services. Equinox is currently AGPAL Accredited.

PRONTO! is a peer driven, community-based shop front approach to reduce barriers to testing and early HIV detection. PRONTO! was established to reduce the barriers faced by gay and other men who have sex with men (MSM) communities. PRONTO! services include peer-delivered rapid HIV testing and STI screening as well as medical practitioner facilitated Pre–Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) access clinics. Medical practitioners interpret STI test results and offer treatment services on-site.

Responsibilities

We are currently seeking contractor General Practitioners/Sexual Health Physicians who are interested in working in this unique space. Our existing team of GPs are happy to provide mentoring and support to interested medical practitioners who are interested in developing their skills and working with TGD and/or gay/MSM communities.

Our current team consists of GPs that provide services to both Equinox and PRONTO! clients, and some who just work with the PRONTO! program. We have an urgent need for more doctors to work in our Equinox program and priority will be given to applicants willing to work primarily in this service.

We offer bulk-billing services to clients of both programs. Clients without Medicare are billed at the Medicare Rebate Schedule rates. We offer our contractor GPs a fee split of 70% of all income received.

Qualifications

Applicants must have a tertiary qualification enabling eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of Victoria. Fellowship with the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners or Royal Australian College of Physicians (Chapter of Sexual Health Medicine) is required.
