Position Title:
Registered Nurse/Nurse Educator (Disability/Mental Health Services)

38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 9AM to 5 PM
Location:
Smithfield and/or other Senami Offices and/or Residential Facilities
Special Working Conditions:
· Must have disability workers screening clearance
· Current unrestricted SA driver’s license
Reporting To:
Clinical Nurse/Practice Manager
Significant Working Relationships:
Liaise with a diverse range of stakeholders including but not limited to;
· Existing and prospective clients and their families and carers

· Mental Health services

Position Summary:
The Registered Nurse works within the Residential Team. The Registered Nurse is responsible for driving the delivery of clinical care support to complex needs clients with an intellectual disability. The Registered Nurse will also be available by telephone for assessment and clinical decision making across other Senami services.
Key duties of the role include but are not limited to;
· Ensure the consistent implementation of service delivery outcomes by Support Workers.
· Establish measurable outcomes that improve the quality of life for individuals supported by Senami and document accordingly.
· Train and mentor support workers to ensure the delivery of quality client care and compliance with the Disability standards around complex bowel care, severe dysphagia, catheter management and medication administration training.
· Provide appropriate training, education, credentialing and practical support to staff providing client care.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Client Support
· Ensure implementation of disability standards in service delivery.
· Ensure adherence to the key policies and procedures of Senami
· Liaise with practice manager with development and implementation of client specific care plans and support plans.
Training & Assessment
· Prepare an annual training plan, in consultation with HR, and materials relevant to the service delivery model of Senami and to meet NDIS requirements.
· Provide on-site training at various locations to Senami staff relevant to their roles.
· Specific one-on-one training for team leaders and support staff where required.
· Provide feedback to client services managers on the training needs of Support workers
Administration
· Maintain the Polypharmacy register and liaise with teams to ensure clients with polypharmacy needs are reviewed at least 6 monthly.
· Monitor medically related incidents and identify systemic issues, and report same.
· Review and update policies, procedures and work instructions relating to complex care needs requirements as outlined by NDIS.
· Be willing to work reasonable overtime to meet specific requirements on occasion.
Other
· Comply with Senami conditions of employment, specifically the Code of Conduct, Bullying and Harassment and other generally applicable policies and procedures.
· Adhere to policies and procedures and follows all reasonable instruction.
· Maintain registrations and qualifications as identified in the PD.
· Attend required training.
· Protect own safety at work and avoid adversely affecting the health and safety of others through an act or omission at work.
· Use equipment supplied.
· Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives as required.
· Participate in quality audits.

Desired knowledge and skills:
· Experience in the disability sector and knowledge in regards to NDIS legislations, requirements and standards.
· Experience in managing a diverse group of staff members.
· Experience in delivering group education.
· Experience working with culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds.
· Knowledge of basic computer skills including Microsoft Office suite of software
· Demonstrated experience in training and assessment of staff working with clients.
· Demonstrated experience in effective verbal and written communication
· Ability to relate on a personal level with people with intellectual disability.
Qualifications:
· Current registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Authority (AHPRA) and NMBA.
· First-aid, mental health first aid and MAPA accreditation.
· Access to own reliable car and willing to travel when necessary.
· Valid working with children, NDIS and DCSI checks.
· Valid working rights in Australia.
· Current and valid driver’s license.
· Certificate 4 in TAE or equivalent (or willing to obtain same)
Pay: $70,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
