The Facilities & Cleaning Assistant supports the effective operation, presentation, cleanliness and safety of Balwyn High School. The role provides cleaning services, assists with school opening and closing procedures, supports the Facilities Team with operational tasks, and contributes to the maintenance of a clean, safe and welcoming environment for students, staff and visitors.
The position reports to the Facilities Manager.
Cleaning and Presentation

Undertake routine and reactive cleaning duties across the school.

Monitor, clean and restock student and staff toilets throughout the day.

Respond to spills, vandalism and other cleaning issues as required.

Collect and dispose of rubbish and recycling.
-
Maintain the presentation of internal and external areas.
-
Report maintenance, cleaning or safety concerns to the Facilities Manager.
Facilities Support

Assist with the daily opening and securing of school buildings, gates and facilities.

Support room setups, pack downs and furniture relocations.
-
Assist with deliveries, stock movement and storage management.
-
Support school events, functions, examinations and community use activities.
-
Undertake minor non-trade maintenance tasks as directed.

Assist with grounds and presentation works as required.
Safety and Compliance

Follow safe work procedures and use equipment safely.

Maintain appropriate records where required.

Use cleaning chemicals and equipment in accordance with training and manufacturer requirements.

Report hazards, incidents and near misses promptly.

Contribute to a safe and healthy workplace.
Teamwork and Customer Service

Work collaboratively with the Facilities Team and other school staff.

Provide courteous and professional service to students, staff, contractors and visitors.

Hours of work will generally be as listed below, however flexibility may be required to support school operations:

Monday - 6:00am to 2:00pm

Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday - 7:00am to 3:00pm

Friday - 7:00am to 3:30pm
