As a Shift Mechanical Fitter at Wilmar Sugar & Renewables, you'll engage in hands-on maintenance and repairs within our mill’s crushing stations, focusing on essential components such as hydraulics, gearboxes, and pumps. In this role, you will work to improve equipment reliability by undertaking preventative and corrective maintenance, and by responding safely and promptly to unplanned stoppages to return machinery to a fully operational state. By collaborating with various departments, you'll help keep production flowing smoothly while upholding our strong commitment to safety and reliability. This permanent position will be based at Kalamia Mill in North Queensland's Burdekin region, known for its stunning landscapes, rich agricultural heritage, and a vibrant community. The Burdekin region offers a fantastic lifestyle with a warm climate, beautiful beaches and a range of recreational activities, making it a great place to live and work.
During the crush, the role follows a continuous rotating shift roster, which may include weekends and occasional overtime. Once the crushing is complete and the Mill enters the maintenance period, the role switches to a day work schedule with RDOs most Fridays.
Your Role in Action
- Keep Our Assets Running: Participate in preventative maintenance programs, troubleshooting equipment breakdowns, and assisting with fault reporting and repairs to ensure optimal factory operations.
- Work Hand-in-Hand with Operations: Collaborate with Operators to maintain the safe and efficient operation of the factory, assisting in identifying issues early and ensuring timely, effective responses.
- Collaborate for Success: Liaise with the Operations Coordinator and Work Coordinator on costs, scheduling expenditures, and assisting in assessing the economic life and performance of assets to drive continuous improvement
- Document with Precision: Ensure all work orders and permits are accurately completed while maintaining timesheets and standard reports for seamless operations.
- Uphold Quality and Teamwork: Work within a collaborative environment, conducting inspections, identifying problems, and implementing improvements to ensure the highest quality standards.
Your Winning Combination
Our ideal candidate will hold a Certificate III in Engineering - (Mechanical Fitting), along with a current Confined Space certificate, a valid Safe Working at Heights certificate, and a manual driver's license. If you have additional certificates, that's a plus! But don't sweat it if you don't—we're here to help you learn and grow in your role!
