About the Role
We are seeking motivated and experienced Floorhands to join our Queensland operations on a full-time, ongoing basis on our drilling rigs. This hands-on role is integral to the safe and efficient operation of our drilling rigs, with responsibilities including maintaining rig floor equipment, supporting daily drilling activities, and contributing to a high-performing crew environment.
As a Floorhand, you will be responsible for rig housekeeping, equipment maintenance, and assisting with drilling operations. You will also support the Motorhand and Driller in mentoring and developing junior crew members while maintaining a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
- Rig Housekeeping: Maintain a clean, safe, and organised rig floor, doghouse, tool room, and surrounding lease area. Ensure all work areas, buildings, and equipment are kept tidy and operationally ready.
- Rig Floor Operations: Assist the Motorhand and Driller with tripping operations, make up Bottom Hole Assemblies (BHAs), and perform strapping and drifting of various tubulars, including drill pipe and casing. Support all general drilling rig floor activities in accordance with operational requirements.
- Equipment Maintenance: Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of rig equipment and tools. Assist the Motorhand with engine and equipment servicing, and maintain rig floor handling equipment, including rig tongs, slips, dog collars, and elevators.
- Safety Compliance: Actively participate in daily safety meetings, hazard assessments, and pre-start meetings. Promote and maintain a strong safety culture through adherence to all safety requirements and industry best practices.
- Policy and Procedure Compliance: Follow all company policies, procedures, and operational standards to ensure safe, efficient, and compliant operations.
- Rig Mobilisation Activities: Assist with rig-up, rig-down, and rig move operations, ensuring equipment is prepared, transported, and reassembled safely and efficiently.
About You:
- Certificate II in Oil and Gas Drilling (Onshore)
- Previous experience in a Floorhand or similar role
- Physically fit and able to work in harsh outdoor conditions
- Willingness to work shift work and rotational rosters
- Strong safety focus and ability to follow procedures
- Team-oriented with good communication skills
- Reliable, proactive, and willing to learn
