The Ashford Hotel and Restaurant, a well-established and highly regarded dining destination in the heart of Ashford, is seeking experienced and passionate Chefs to join our kitchen team. This role is ideal for individuals who thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment, take pride in delivering high-quality cuisine, and can lead with consistency and creativity during service.
Key Responsibilities
- Plan, prepare, and cook a wide variety of dishes to the highest quality standards
- Supervise and coordinate kitchen staff during service to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Manage food preparation, portioning, and presentation in line with menu specifications
- Monitor and maintain kitchen hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards in compliance with relevant regulations
- Assist in menu planning, recipe development, and seasonal menu updates
- Manage stock levels, food inventory, and coordinate with suppliers for ordering
- Minimise food wastage and assist with cost control and kitchen budgeting
- Ensure compliance with all food handling, WHS, and licensing requirements
- Train and mentor junior kitchen staff and apprentices where required
Ideal Candidate
- Previous experience as a Chef in a hotel, restaurant, or similar hospitality setting for atleast 1 year.
- Relevant trade qualifications (Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery or equivalent)
- Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards (Food Handler/Supervisor certification preferred)
- Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a high-volume kitchen environment
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail in food preparation and presentation
- Good communication and team leadership abilities
- Flexible with availability, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays
- Must have full working rights in Australia
Salary & Benefits
- $78,000 – $85,000 AUD per year (based on experience) + Superannuation as per market norms.
