Boeing Defence Australia (BDA) is seeking two experienced Project Management Leaders to join the Super Hornet and Growler Sustainment Program:
- Sustainment Projects Manager
- Change Shared Services Manager
These leadership roles sit within both the Change Team and the Program Extended Leadership Team, playing a key role in delivering outcomes that support operational capability, continuous improvement, and program success.
The Super Hornet and Growler Sustainment Program delivers in-service support and upgrade services for the Royal Australian Air Force's Super Hornet and Growler fleet. This work directly contributes to operational readiness, preparedness, survivability, and lethality.
Responsibilities:
As the Sustainment Projects Manager:
- You will be accountable for all sustainment system and technical change projects supporting the Super Hornet and Growler Sustainment Program.
- You will lead and supervise a team of project management professionals.
- You will engage with a broad range of stakeholders across the Australian Defence Organisation, United States Government agencies, and Defence Industry.
- You will ensure assigned project management staff successfully deliver a range of sustainment-related technical and systems projects.
- You will communicate project status clearly and promptly to stakeholders.
- You will be responsible for delivering projects to agreed cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
- As a Change Team Leader and member of the Program Extended Leadership Team, you will contribute directly to organisational growth and improvement.
As the Change Shared Services Manager:
- You will be accountable for all Program-level PMO functions, including Change Boards, staff training and development, professionalisation, project scheduling, project logistics support, and ECP management.
- You will lead and supervise a team of project management professionals.
- You will engage with a broad range of stakeholders across the Australian Defence Organisation, United States Government agencies, and Defence Industry.
- You will ensure the effective delivery of internal Program PMO functions, including the execution of Program Change Boards.
- You will deliver high-quality shared project management services, including scheduling and project logistics.
- You will monitor compliance with Program PMO processes and drive process optimisation.
- You will coordinate the on-time delivery of Change Team contract deliverables.
- You will oversee professionalisation, training, and development of project management staff across the Program, including ownership of the PM Continuous Training Plan.
- You will be responsible for delivering projects to agreed cost, quality, and schedule requirements.
- As a Change Team Leader and member of the Program Extended Leadership Team, you will contribute directly to organisational growth and improvement.
Experience/Qualifications:
We are seeking candidates with:
- Demonstrated experience managing complex projects to successful and timely completion.
- Proven leadership capability, including customer liaison and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong project management experience.
- A tertiary qualification in a business-related field (e.g. Project Management, Logistics, Finance, Engineering) or equivalent experience.
- Minimum 5 years' experience in a leadership role within a complex program.
- Strong customer service and interpersonal communication skills.
- An aspirational leadership style with a genuine commitment to people and team development.
- Understanding of matrix-based organisations, with the ability to work effectively within them.
- Proven ability to develop practical, innovative, and well-considered solutions aligned to organisational objectives.
- A demonstrated commitment to change and continuous improvement.
- A lifelong learning mindset and commitment to personal growth and development.
