Primary objective
Provide high level administrative support to the Central Region Protection Office to assist in the smooth day to say operations.
Context statement
The Department of Children and Families (DCF) provides a range of services focused on protecting children in the Northern
Territory from harm.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Work with other administrative support staff across the work unit to ensure compliance with a range of administrative
procedures and finance requirements
2. Bookings, tracking, and advising on all travel arrangements for staff in an office that travels to urban and remote communities
on a regular basis.
3. Arrange urgent repairs, maintenance and minor new works for Agency leased premises.
4. Assist in the development, implementation, and review of internal process to ensure efficient and effective service delivery.
5. Ensure accurate records are maintained in accordance with The Department of Children and Families Policies, Procedures and
retention and disposal schedules.
6. Build and sustain positive working relationships, demonstrating effective oral, interpersonal, and written communication skills.
7. Ensure the timely purchase of goods and services, ensuring accurate payment and reconciliation of tax invoices.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. A high level of organisational skills, self-motivation, and flexibility with the demonstrated ability to manage daily operational
tasks and projects to meet the demands of service delivery.
2. Highly developed interpersonal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate outcomes in an ever-changing
environment.
3. Provide administrative support across the Central Region Child Protection Office as directed to assist with emerging priorities
and deadlines.
4. Ability to work independently and within a team environment and the ability to interact effectively with people from diverse
cultures.
5. Demonstrated knowledge or the ability to quickly learn the Department of Children and Families systems such as Government
Accounting System (GAS), Travel Request Information Processing System (TRIPS), NTGPAY, LIFT and CTM and Tower Records
Information Management (TRIM).
6. Current Northern Territory drivers’ licence or the ability to obtain prior to commencement.
7. An ability to work effectively with people from diverse cultures.
Desirable
1. Qualification in office administration or equivalent.
