Full Job Description

iCARE Youth and Community Services Pty Ltd is a dedicated NDIS (National Disability Insurance Scheme) registered provider, and a provider of residential placements for the Department of Children and Families in the Northern Territory (NT). Our core mission is to provide essential care and support services to individuals with disabilities, ensuring their well-being, independence, and inclusion in the community. Our service offerings encompass a wide range of NDIS-approved supports, including accommodation, therapy, and community access programs, tailored to meet the unique needs of each individual we serve.

Due to increased demand for our services, we have multiple positions available for this role in Alice Springs and the surrounding areas of Central Australia, NT.

Position Description

As a family support worker, you will assist the work of Social Workers and Welfare Workers by providing services and support to families.

Duties:

Identify families who require additional support and provide internal/external referrals
Work with vulnerable families involved with child protection services to reduce risks and improve child safety outcomes.
Interview clients and assess the nature and extent of difficulties
Ensure families can access appropriate services, and encourage families and individuals with needs to participate in informal discussion, counselling or support groups
Create and update individualised case management files for all clients
Deliver culturally appropriate family support services to Aboriginal families in remote and regional Northern Territory communities.
Support families and provide education and care for children and disabled persons in adult service units, group housing and government institutions and develop effective plans for long-term positive outcomes
Assist and collaborate with Social and Welfare Workers to develop holistic plans by establishing family assessments, safety plans, goals and interventions to ensure safety and well-being, and empower families towards positive change
Support parents and carers with crisis intervention, parenting strategies, behavioural support, and engagement with external services.
Liaise and collaborate with case workers and case work managers to ensure high-quality service delivery, and provide updates regarding any issues and problem-solve with them
Manage complex family dynamics involving trauma, domestic violence, substance misuse, homelessness, and mental health concerns.
Engage families in their homes and at other suitable locations, to actively and proactively overcome barriers to engagement

Eligibility requirements:

To be eligible, the ideal candidate must have/be willing to obtain the following:

Hold a relevant qualification equivalent to an AQF diploma and one year of full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience or

Have at least 3 years of relevant full-time (or part-time equivalent) work experience

Current National Police Check
NDIS Worker Screening Check
First Aid Certificate
Availability to work across a 24/7 Roster to meet operational needs
NT Driver's Licence
