Salary – $99,938-$110,271 per annum, Plus Superannuation and Annual Leave Loading
Grade – Clerk Grade 5/6
This position is open to Australian Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people only.
Your role
Provide support services and programs to offenders and remandees, including assessment, case planning, and implementation of targeted interventions. Deliver individual crisis support and practical assistance to support safe, secure, and humane management within a correctional environment, while promoting rehabilitation and reducing re-offending. The role also involves facilitating and delivering accredited or approved programs to support positive behavioural change and successful reintegration.
What you’ll do
Key Accountabilities
- Contribute to offender intake processes, including screening, induction, assessment, and case management planning, support, and reporting.
- Deliver accredited or approved group-based programs to offenders in correctional centres and community settings.
- Facilitate health promotion and harm reduction programs to support offender wellbeing.
- Provide individual interventions tailored to offender needs.
- Respond to and resolve critical incidents by providing timely information, support, referrals, and professional expertise.
- Deliver crisis intervention support to offenders experiencing immediate or acute difficulties.
- Support pre-release planning, including coordinating referrals to appropriate community-based services.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant documentation and case notes in OIMS and case files in line with required standards.
Key Challenges
- Effectively engaging and supporting a diverse offender cohort, including individuals who may be resistant to change, within custodial and community environments.
- Building and maintaining productive relationships with internal stakeholders, offenders’ families, and external organisations, including non-government agencies.

- Passionate about supporting Aboriginal people and communities
- Culturally aware, respectful, and community-minded
- Experienced in case management, welfare support, counselling, or human services
- Confident working with people experiencing complex personal or social challenges
- Able to build strong relationships and work collaboratively
- Organised, resilient, and confident managing competing priorities
Essential requirements
- Relevant qualifications in social work, psychology, mental health, or other human services fields and/or equivalent demonstrated experience
- Current Certificate IV in Correctional Practice (or willingness to complete within required timeframes)
- Current driver licence and willingness to travel across NSW if required
- Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander persons who are culturally aware and responsive to the needs of Aboriginal people and communities
