Usha Food Imports Pty Ltd is a growing food import and distribution business supplying a broad range of international grocery and food products to supermarkets, retail stores, restaurants, and wholesale clients across Australia. The company manages a large inventory portfolio involving imported food products, stock forecasting, supplier coordination, pricing analysis, warehouse stock movement, and sales trend monitoring.
Due to continued expansion and increasing operational complexity, the business is seeking a skilled and commercially focused Sales Analyst – Inventory & Supply Chain Analytics to support business intelligence, stock management optimisation, sales reporting, forecasting, and operational performance analysis.
This position is critical to improving inventory efficiency, reducing stock losses, supporting procurement planning, and assisting management in data-driven commercial decision-making.
Position Overview
The Sales Analyst will be responsible for analysing sales and inventory data, identifying purchasing and stock movement trends, generating forecasting reports, improving inventory turnover, and assisting management with strategic business insights.
The role requires advanced analytical capabilities, reporting expertise, inventory planning knowledge, and the ability to work closely with warehouse, procurement, logistics, finance, and sales teams.
This is not a basic administration role. The position involves professional-level analytical responsibilities directly linked to business performance, stock optimisation, commercial forecasting, and operational strategy.
Key Responsibilities
Sales & Commercial Analytics
- Analyse historical and current sales performance across product categories, regions, and customer groups
- Develop sales forecasting models to support purchasing and inventory planning
- Monitor product demand trends and seasonal fluctuations
- Prepare detailed business intelligence reports for management
- Analyse profit margins, pricing structures, and product performance
- Identify underperforming products and recommend corrective actions
- Support strategic decision-making using data-driven insights
Inventory & Supply Chain Analysis
- Monitor inventory turnover and stock ageing
- Analyse stock movement patterns across warehouses and distribution channels
- Identify overstocking, understocking, and slow-moving inventory risks
- Assist procurement planning based on sales and inventory forecasts
- Coordinate with warehouse and purchasing teams regarding inventory optimisation
- Develop inventory control and replenishment reporting systems
- Support reduction of wastage, stock discrepancies, and inventory losses
Data Management & Reporting
- Extract, validate, and interpret large datasets from internal systems
- Prepare weekly and monthly KPI reports
- Develop dashboards and reporting tools using Excel, Power BI, or similar systems
- Conduct data cleansing and integrity checks
- Identify operational inefficiencies through trend analysis
- Present analytical findings and recommendations to senior management
Operational & Business Improvement
- Assist in process improvement initiatives across inventory and sales operations
- Support automation and reporting efficiency improvements
- Recommend systems and workflow enhancements based on operational data
- Work collaboratively with finance, logistics, procurement, and sales departments
- Assist management with budgeting and operational forecasting activities
Essential Requirements
- Bachelor degree or higher qualification
- Minimum 1 year of relevant professional experience in:
- Sales analysis
- Inventory analysis
- Supply chain analytics
- Commercial reporting
- Data analysis
- Business intelligence
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills including Pivot Tables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, reporting, and forecasting
- Experience using ERP, inventory management, or reporting systems
- Ability to interpret large datasets and produce meaningful insights
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organisational and time management abilities
Preferred Skills
- Experience within wholesale, retail, FMCG, food import, logistics, or distribution industries
- Experience using Power BI, Tableau, SQL, or similar analytical platforms
- Understanding of inventory forecasting methodologies
- Knowledge of Australian wholesale distribution operations
- Experience in supply chain reporting and operational planning
