Launch Your Mental Health Nursing Career | RN Graduate Diploma Program 2027

Join SALHN's 2027 Graduate Diploma Mental Health Program as a Registered Nurse at Flinders Medical Centre, where you'll develop specialist mental health skills while delivering meaningful, recovery-focused care to consumers across Adelaide's southern metro. If you're a Registered Nurse ready to commit to mental health as your speciality, this program gives you the structure, the team, and the experience to get there.

About the role:
Reporting to the Nurse Unit Manager, this role is responsible for delivering safe, person-centred mental health nursing care within a multidisciplinary team at Flinders Medical Centre, while applying and integrating the clinical knowledge developed through your Graduate Diploma studies into everyday practice.

Duties for the role will include:
Assess individual patient/client needs, plan, implement and/or coordinate appropriate service delivery from a range of accepted options including other disciplines or agencies,
Provide direct person-centred nursing/midwifery care and/or individual case management to patients/clients on a shift-by-shift basis in a defined clinical area with increasing autonomy over time,
Participate in quality improvement activities that contribute to patient/client safety, risk minimisation and safe work activities within the practice setting,
Provide health promotion and education, to patients/clients or groups and carers to improve the health outcomes of individual,
Participate in evaluative research activities within the practice setting

About you:
Registered as a Nurse by the Nursing/Midwifery Board of Australia (NMBA) and who holds a current practicing certificate. Must be enrolled in an approved mental health course,
Effective communication skills including, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation skills,
Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team,
Demonstrated competence in mental health nursing practice in accordance with the relevant standards
