What you'll be doing

As a Visiting Medical Officer – Otolaryngology, you will provide high‑quality, evidence‑based specialist ENT care as part of a multidisciplinary surgical team at Wagga Wagga Base Hospital and across MLHD.

Key responsibilities include:

Comprehensive assessment, diagnosis, and management of ENT conditions in elective and emergency settings
Inpatient and outpatient management, including clinics, peri‑operative care, and follow‑up
Participation in the on‑call roster to support timely access to acute ENT services
Contribution to the development, coordination, and quality improvement of ENT services across the district
Supervision, education, and support of junior medical staff and multidisciplinary colleagues
Participation in clinical governance, risk management, and safety initiatives
Supporting outreach, telehealth, and rural models of care where required

Selection Criteria

Holds registration with the Medical Board of Australia as a Specialist in Otolaryngology (ENT), and/or overseas trained specialist pathways.
Demonstrated effective clinical communication through the use of information technology and written, verbal and interpersonal skills.
Demonstrated significant experience relevant to Otolaryngology (ENT) practice and evidence of competence in skills relevant to Australian rural hospital practice, including trauma and emergency scenarios.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and provide leadership of a team.
Demonstrated commitment to teaching, continuing education, research and quality improvement.
Availability to participate in an on-call roster and to respond on site within a reasonable time.
Demonstrated commitment to behaviours which align to the NSW Health CORE values and MLHD Values, goals and strategies
