About the role

We are seeking an experienced Sous Chef to join our talented culinary team at Peppermint Bay, a renowned restaurant and function venue located in the beautiful town of Woodbridge, Tasmania. As Sous Chef, you will play a pivotal role in supporting the Head Chef in leading and inspiring our kitchen brigade to deliver exceptional dining experiences for our guests. This is a full-time position based in our Woodbridge location.

What you'll be doing

Assist the Head Chef in the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, including menu planning, food preparation, and quality control
Supervise and coordinate the work of the kitchen team, ensuring high standards of food safety and presentation are maintained
Contribute to the development and refinement of menu items, incorporating seasonal and locally-sourced ingredients
Collaborate with the front-of-house team to ensure seamless service delivery
Participate in staff training and development to uphold our commitment to culinary excellence
Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient kitchen environment

What we're looking for

Minimum of 3 years' experience as a Sous Chef or in a similar senior culinary role.
Strong knowledge of food safety, hygiene, and kitchen operations
Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to work under pressure
Creative flair and a passion for producing visually stunning and flavoursome dishes
A team-oriented approach and the ability to lead and motivate a kitchen brigade
Qualifications in Commercial Cookery or a related field, such as a Certificate III or IV in Hospitality (Commercial Cookery)

Pay: From $78,000.00 per year
