Actively engage in teaching and student engagement related activities within the discipline of Secondary Education.

About the role

As an integral member of our team, you will contribute to the development, delivery and assessment of Secondary Education units at undergraduate and graduate levels and contribute to the institute by undertaking scholarly research and administrative functions.

In accordance with the University’s Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples Workforce Strategy, Policy and Procedure and under Special Measures Section 12 of the Equal Opportunity Act 2010; the University has designated this position as a Targeted Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Position.

You will:

prepare and deliver lectures, tutorials and seminars;
undertake assessment and moderation of units at undergraduate and postgraduate levels;
develop course materials and resources in secondary education; and
respectfully embed First Peoples ways of knowing, being and doing
contribute to a range of activities associated with the development and delivery of curriculum.

About you

You will work as part of the Institute’s team of academic and administrative staff. You will possess proven educational, scholarly research and professional experience and seek to make a solid contribution to the teaching effort within the Institute within the strategic framework of the University and in accordance with its mission. You will be a creative thinker and avid problem-solver, who possesses initiative, innovation, and a can-do attitude.

You will possess demonstrated:

commitment to and enthusiasm for teaching with a strong record of teaching experience in a tertiary environment;
ability to work with First Peoples Elders and Communities and embed respectfully ways of knowing, being and doing into the curriculum;
ability to develop and implement a student-centred approach with a focus on student educational experience and success;
experience in academic administration;
ability, commitment and passion for engaging in scholarly research; and
experience in maths and science curriculum is highly desirable.
