An exciting opportunity is available for a Senior Manager, Individual Giving and Donor Growth to join the Fundraising and Philanthropy Department at Australia’s pre-eminent biomedical research institute.
About the Position
The Fundraising and Philanthropy Department (F&P) contributes to the financial sustainability of the Walter and Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research (WEHI) by attracting revenue from non-government sources, including philanthropic individuals, trusts and foundations, community-based fundraising organisations and bequests. Philanthropic funding helps the Institute to remain at the forefront of medical research and technology and to recruit and retain the best scientific staff.
Under the leadership of the Director, Fundraising and Philanthropy, the department is comprised of five teams; Individual Giving and Donor Growth, Major Donors, Future Giving, Philanthropy Services and Trusts and Foundations.
The Senior Manager, Individual Giving and Donor Growth is considered a senior specialist and is responsible for leading the delivery of strategy, performance, planning and growth of the Institute’s broad-based donor-centric fundraising program, including digital fundraising, annual and regular giving, and community fundraising channels, to build a cohesive donor growth engine. The role is accountable for building a strategically focussed, high-performing, data-driven digital ecosystem that drives acquisition, conversion, retention, and lifetime value at scale, maximising the value of the general donor base while building a strong pipeline into higher-value donor segments.
Selection Criteria
Essential Knowledge and Skills:
Tertiary qualification in fundraising, philanthropy, marketing, communications or related field (or equivalent experience); CFRE or similar fundraising qualification (desirable).
Demonstrated extensive experience in digital marketing, analytics, or fundraising strategy.
Significant expertise in multi-channel fundraising strategies, including acquisition, retention, reactivation, and donor development.
Demonstrated track record in preparing and presenting business cases for investment in individual giving.
Deep expertise in digital fundraising ecosystem, including email, paid digital acquisition, social, and optimised website donation journeys
Ability to design and deliver integrated, multi-channel fundraising strategies with digital at the core of annual and campaign planning
Advanced segmentation and audience development capability using CRM and digital behavioural data to personalise donor journeys at scale
Strong skills in campaign analysis, attribution, ROI optimisation, budgeting, forecasting, and revenue performance.
Knowledge of marketing automation tools, CRM platforms, and fundraising compliance standards.

Terms of Appointment
This position is ongoing in a full-time capacity. Salary is Professional Services Employee Level 10 ($176,638 - $191,197). Very attractive salary packaging options are available for general living expenses, meal entertainment, novated leasing and more. 12% superannuation payable, plus up to a further 5% after the first 6 months of service via our matching superannuation scheme.
