About the Role:
Glow Healthcare Australia provides nursing and health support services across aged care, residential and supported accommodation settings. As a Nursing Support Worker (NSW), you will assist nursing staff to deliver safe, respectful, client-centred care that promotes dignity, independence, and wellbeing.
You’ll work under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or other qualified health professional, following nursing directions, care plans, and organisational policies and procedures.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Assist clients with personal hygiene, grooming, toileting, and continence care
- Support clients with safe movement and mobility, encouraging independence
- Assist with transfers, hoist use, repositioning, and falls prevention (under supervision)
- Provide emotional support, reassurance, and companionship
- Carry out care tasks delegated by nursing staff in line with care plans
- Monitor client condition and promptly report changes to the Registered Nurse
- Assist with routine observations where appropriate (e.g., temperature, pulse, behaviour)
- Support residents with hydration and nutrition, including mealtime and feeding assistance
- Maintain accurate care documentation, progress notes, and clinical records as required
- Complete clear and timely shift handovers and written communication
- Follow infection control, PPE, medication safety (where applicable), and manual handling procedures
- Communicate respectfully with clients, families (as appropriate), and the care team
- Uphold client rights, choice, privacy, and confidentiality at all times
- Identify and escalate WHS hazards, incidents, near misses, or safety concerns immediately
- Report any suspected abuse, neglect, or exploitation in line with reporting requirements
Skills and Qualifications:
- Hold at least a relevant AQF Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing, Disability or Health) or equivalent
- At least 2–3 years of experience in a relevant position (aged care, disability, health support, residential care)
- Strong knowledge of WHS, privacy/confidentiality, infection control, and safe manual handling
- Confident written and verbal communication, including documentation and handover notes
- Ability to work calmly and professionally, including in urgent or high-pressure situations
- Comfortable working under clinical supervision and as part of a multidisciplinary team
Employment requirements (must be able to maintain):
- Current First Aid and CPR certification
- National Police Check
- Working With Children Check (if applicable)
- Manual Handling and Infection Control training
- COVID-19 vaccination certificate and/or immunisation history
- Driver’s licence and own transport (if community-based support is required)
