Verve Barbering has entered an exciting new chapter following our recentrelocation and major expansion to a larger, high-visibility premises on Crown Street, Surry Hills. As we continue to grow, we are looking for a skilled, creative and driven barber who delivers premium-standard services and exceptional customer care.

Verve was established in August 2023 and has quickly built a good reputation for a premium service within a personable and vibrant environment. We are not a quick 10-minute walk-in shop - we operate as an appointment-based shop offering a full range of barbering services, including colouring, bleaching and perming. However, you will not be expected to perform chemical services unless you are qualified and/or wish to learn so.

We strongly value professional development and provide weekly advanced barbering education, both in-house and externally, ensuring you continue to grow and refine your skills.
As part of our brand growth, we are also investing heavily in high-quality content creation, doing photoshoots, social media campaigns and visual branding projects. We are looking for barbers who are confident being part of this creative process - including having their work featured, participating in video content, and representing the brand professionally online - with willingness to also contribute with your own social media presence. Being comfortable on camera and enthusiastic about contributing to creative projects is highly valued, as we plan to build a strong industry presence.

We are looking for someone who not only delivers exceptional barbering services, but who also demonstrates initiative, professionalism, organisation, team leadership qualities and a genuine passion for helping elevate the overall client experience, culture and growth of the brand.
Applicants must demonstrate:
- Modern clipper and scissor techniques
- Beard grooming and shaping
- Cut throat razor proficiency
- Scalp and facial treatments including shampooing (or willingness to learn)
- Ability to work with diverse hair types and textures
- Staying up to date with industry trends and techniques
- Maintaining a clean and hygienic workspace
- Capturing content of your work and willingness to participate in social media filming and posting
- Strong client communication and retention skills
- A positive attitude and strong teamwork ethic
- Leadership qualities
Experience & Qualifications
- Barbering and/or hairdressing qualifications/certificates (required for sponsorship)
- Minimum 5 years experience on a shop/salon floor
Working Days & Schedule
- Alternate Mondays/Wednesdays, Tuesday, Thursday afternoon, Friday & Saturday.
- Team training tends to be Tuesdays 10am–12pm
- Late night included on Thursdays until 8pm
Salary & Incentives
- Base wage: $35–$37 per hour as Senior Barber (depending on skill and experience). If chosen for management then a higher base wage (to be discussed at the time).
- Achievable service targets with 45% commission on all services above target
- 20% retail commission can be achieved on product sales (average $6–$8 per product)
- Target-based bonuses on rebooking percentage
- 10% commission on cross-promotion to chemical services
- Weekly individual tips (team average $80–$200 per week)
- Weekly payments including salary, commissions, bonuses and card tips

- Open to visa holders
- Sponsorship considered for highly suitable candidates
- Overseas applications without an existing visa and travel plans will not be considered
