About KYK Fabrication
KYK Fabrication is a growing custom fabrication business based in Carrum Downs, specialising in high-end architectural steel, aluminium and stainless steel fabrication.
Our work includes custom steel stairs, balustrades, aluminium fencing and gates, stainless steel handrails and a range of bespoke architectural metalwork projects.
We focus on high-quality, high-end architectural projects rather than rough, high-volume production work. Our projects require precision, attention to detail and a high standard of finish from fabrication through to installation.
We are looking for an experienced and motivated General Fabricator to join our team. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who takes genuine pride in their workmanship and enjoys producing quality custom work.
About the Role
Working as part of our fabrication team, you will be involved in the manufacture and installation of a wide range of custom architectural projects.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Fabrication and welding of mild steel
- TIG welding aluminium
- TIG welding stainless steel
- MIG welding
- Fabrication of custom steel stairs and stair components
- Aluminium fencing and gate fabrication
- Stainless steel fabrication and finishing
- Balustrades, handrails and structural steel
- Reading and interpreting workshop and fabrication drawings
- Accurately measuring, marking and fabricating components
- Cutting, grinding, drilling and general workshop fabrication
- Operating CNC fabrication equipment
- Folding and forming sheet metal
- Loading, unloading and moving materials using a forklift
- Maintaining a clean, safe and organised work environment
- Assisting with site installations when required
- Working on custom and one-off architectural projects
About You
We are looking for someone who has proven experience in a fabrication environment and understands the level of accuracy and finish required for high-end architectural work.
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Previous experience as a Boilermaker, Metal Fabricator or similar trade
- Proven fabrication and welding experience
- Experience with steel stair fabrication highly regarded
- TIG welding experience
- Strong MIG welding skills
- Ability to read and work accurately from fabrication drawings
- Good understanding of measurements, angles and fabrication processes
- Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
- Ability to work efficiently while maintaining a high standard of finish
- Reliable and punctual work ethic
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Current driver's licence
- Current forklift licence
- Current White Card
Desirable Skills
The following experience will be highly regarded:
- Steel stair fabrication
- Press brake / sheet metal folding
- Experience with CNC plasma or other CNC cutting equipment

The Type of Work We Do
At KYK Fabrication, we don't focus on pushing out large volumes of basic fabrication.
Our work is predominantly custom, architectural and finish-focused, with an emphasis on accuracy, clean fabrication and quality installation. Our projects often involve detailed staircases, balustrades, screens, fencing and architectural metalwork where the finished product needs to look as good as it is built.
