About the Opportunity
Scone Hospital is seeking experienced Registered Nurses to join our Emergency Department and become part of a supportive, close-knit team delivering high-quality care to the Upper Hunter community.

What You Will Be Doing
As a Registered Nurse within the Emergency Department, you will deliver safe, evidence-based and person-centred care to patients presenting with a wide variety of emergency conditions.
Working within your full scope of practice and supported by Enrolled Nurses, Assistants in Nursing, Student Nurses and an onsite Clinical Nurse Educator, you will:
- Perform triage assessments and prioritise patient care using recognised emergency triage principles.
- Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients presenting to the Emergency Department.
- Provide treatment, coordinate admissions, facilitate transfers and support safe patient discharge.
- Respond confidently to deteriorating patients and medical emergencies.
- Collaborate closely with medical officers and the multidisciplinary team to achieve positive patient outcomes.
- Provide clinical support to the inpatient ward and other hospital departments during periods of lower Emergency Department activity.
- Maintain accurate clinical documentation while contributing to a safe, efficient and patient-focused clinical environment.
About you
We're looking for a confident and adaptable Registered Nurse who enjoys the variety and autonomy of rural emergency nursing and is committed to delivering exceptional patient care.
Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of 12 months' post-registration clinical experience, with demonstrated experience working within an Emergency Department. You will be passionate about providing high-quality care, thrive in a fast-paced environment and enjoy working collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
Essential requirements:
- Current registration as a Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Experience in Emergency Department nursing.
- Advanced Life Support (ALS) knowledge and experience.
- Experience with triage and Emergency Care Assessment and Treatment (ECAT) protocols.
- The ability to effectively manage patient flow within a busy Emergency Department.
- Excellent communication, clinical reasoning and decision-making skills.
- A willingness to support other clinical areas within the facility when required.
- A commitment to ongoing learning, professional development and delivering safe, patient-centred care.
