Graduate Nurse Programs at Portland District Health are designed to support early career practitioners in their transition from student to confident, competent registered professionals. These programs foster the development of clinical independence, professional identity and reflective practice within a supportive and inclusive environment. Our approach is grounded in a framework of skill development and professional growth, enabling graduates to progress toward safe and autonomous practice. Graduates are supported by dedicated staff who guide clinical learning, encourage critical thinking and promote ongoing reflective and self directed learning.

- Extensive clinical knowledge, skills and experience
- Highly developed interpersonal skills
- Sound communication skills both verbal and written
- Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Ability to work unsupervised as a Registered Nurse in a clinical environment
- Strong time management skills
- Good assessment, problem solving and organisational skills
- A demonstrated high level of motivation and willingness to learn
- Current employee police check and Working with Children’s check.
- Current evidence of immunisation history and / or serology results
- Able to undertake shift work as required

Portland District Health (PDH) provides an integrated health service for the community. The hospital was established in 1856 on the current site and now provides a comprehensive range of services that include:
