Specialist Geriatrician – Aged Care & Rehabilitation
Aged Care & Rehabilitation | Starting August 2026
Joondalup Health Campus(JHC) is the largest hospital in Western Australia, treating more than 70,000 inpatients on average annually. Position Profile
As the hospital continues its expansion, we are looking to employ Aged Care and Rehabilitation Consultants to join the department. DRAC is a multidisciplinary unit that manages older adults with subacute or chronic conditions.
Specialist geriatricians rotate within the department on a six-monthly basis. The department is structured as follows:

Three subacute teams, each resourced with a consultant, registrar and intern.

A peri-operative consult service , supported by a senior registrar and the peri-op clinic.

Day Therapy Service, which includes management of clinics along with supervision of either a senior registrar or service ward registrar.

The consultant managed GEM ward and includes a senior registrar and RMO.
-
The consultant managed rehabilitation ward that includes a senior registrar, an RMO and an intern.

A consultant led complex care ward.

The consultant managed wards with Care Awaiting Placement patients at Glengarry Private Hospital.

Consult liaison service, which is resourced with a senior registrar.

Depending on FTE, department rotations may be allocated solely, in combination or in combination with clinic duties.

There is an expectation to attend departmental meetings and teaching sessions.

We are looking to hire Consultants who can start in August 2026.

Consultant positions would partake in the rotational system outlined above.

The department offers acute, subacute, peri-op, outpatient and rehabilitation medicine exposure.

We support the ability to practice medicine in the private sector if desired.

We offer scope to develop and refine leadership skills.
Salary: JHC is looking to employ consultants with a salary range commensurate with experience and aligned to AMA WA 2024 agreement (base salary, plus 12% superannuation and professional development allowance).
Essential Criteria

Demonstrated commitment to uphold and promote the Ramsay Way core values.

Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians or equivalent.

Registered with APHRA.

Demonstrated extensive knowledge and clinical experience in Geriatric Medicine.
