What this opportunity involves:
As a Senior Portfolio Accountant at JLL, you'll play a vital role in managing the financial operations for one of Australia's leading property portfolios serving the WA Government. This position sits at the intersection of finance and property management, where you'll serve as a trusted business partner to our Property Managers while ensuring financial accuracy and compliance across a diverse portfolio of assets. You'll be responsible for the complete financial control cycle, from monthly reporting and budget preparation to tenant outgoings reconciliation and audit coordination. Key Responsibilities include:
Serve as the key finance business partner to JLL Property Managers, maintaining accurate financial information within MRI software and providing strategic financial guidance
Deliver comprehensive monthly financial reports for your assigned portfolio, including variance commentary to budget in collaboration with property managers
Prepare and process journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and IFRS rent smoothing and incentive amortization journals with precision
Conduct annual tenant outgoing recovery reconciliations and coordinate with outgoings auditors to ensure accuracy and compliance
Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts, providing valuable financial insights to support strategic planning
Manage capital expenditure tracking against budget, review purchase orders for validity, and process client remittances and fund requests
Lead and participate in monthly finance training sessions, sharing knowledge and strengthening team capabilities
Ensure adherence to all Trust Accounting and Property Accounting policies, including client-specific requirements and JLL's internal compliance processes
Oversee property transitions into and out of the portfolio, conducting monthly bank reconciliations and coordinating annual audit information flow with clients
Sounds like you? This is what we're looking for:
Proven experience in commercial and retail property accounting, with strong financial control and reporting capabilities
Demonstrated ability to prepare accurate financial statements, budget forecasts, and variance analyses
Solid understanding of Trust Accounting principles and Property Accounting policies and procedures
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with property managers, clients, leasing executives, and senior leadership
Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy
Proficiency in preparing journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and financial reconciliations
Knowledge of GST reporting and compliance requirements
Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to regulatory and compliance standards
Experience working with MRI asset management software and PeopleSoft financial management systems (highly valued)
