Cake Decorator / Pastry Production Specialist

This is not a standard bakery.
We are rebuilding the business into a premium, product-led dessert and pastry studio focused on:
- Custom cakes
- Display cakes and slices
- Premium pastries and savoury items
- Coffee-driven café products
Everything we produce is expected to feel premium, consistent, and worth talking about.
This is a business in transition. We are refining products constantly, improving systems, and building a stronger brand through the quality of the product itself.
Every item that leaves the counter represents the business. Humans call this “brand building.” Mostly it’s just repeating the same standards until people stop disappointing you.
The Role
We are looking for a skilled Cake Decorator / Pastry Production Specialist to join the team full-time.
This is a hands-on production role focused primarily on:
- Cake decorating and finishing
- Cake production
- Pastry production and assembly
You will work directly with the owner to:
- Execute new product ideas
- Refine existing products
- Maintain consistency across all daily production
This is not a narrow “decorate only” role.
You are expected to contribute across cakes, slices, pastries, and production support where required.
During peak café periods, you may also assist front-of-house operations including coffee service if needed.
Core Responsibilities
Cake Decorating & Finishing
- Decorate celebration cakes to a premium visual standard
- Execute buttercream, ganache, fondant, textured and modern finishes
- Maintain consistency in colour palettes, branding, and presentation
- Ensure every cake leaving the business meets quality standards
- Prepare display cakes and slices with strong visual presentation
Cake Production
- Assist with sponge preparation, fillings, layering and finishing
- Produce slices and smaller products to the same standard as whole cakes
- Maintain consistency across all products
Pastry Production
- Produce pastries including:
- Scrolls (sweet and savoury)
- Croissants and laminated-style items
- Brioche and café pastries
- Maintain consistency in bake, finish, and presentation
- Support daily café production requirements
Product Development
- Work with the owner on new products and seasonal items
- Refine products based on customer response and operational practicality
- Focus on products that are repeatable, scalable, and commercially viable
Kitchen & Café Standards
- Maintain a clean, organised, and efficient workspace
- Follow structured production systems and prep requirements
- Work efficiently under pressure and during peak periods
- Assist café operations when required
- Maintain food safety and hygiene standards at all times

- Have proven cake decorating experience
- Be capable across both cakes and pastry production
- Care deeply about detail and presentation

- Barista experience
- Experience in high-volume production environments
- Strong design eye and creativity

First 30 Days
Within your first month, you will be expected to:
- Contribute to daily production immediately
- Execute cakes and pastries consistently
- Work with the owner on product refinement
- Maintain strong presentation standards across all output
- Integrate into the production workflow efficiently

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $70,000.00 – $80,000.00 per year
