The Opportunity
The Venues & Catering team within Campus Development and Services deliver high-quality food services across UniSC campuses, including cafés, functions, conferences and major university events. The team works collaboratively to ensure consistency in food quality, service delivery, and customer experience across all locations.
This role is a casual opportunity supporting kitchen operations across both the Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay campuses. As a Casual Chef, you will contribute to the preparation and delivery of high-quality food services, ensuring efficient operations and exceptional customer satisfaction.
This opportunity offers flexible hours in line with business requirements, including weekdays, weekends and peak event periods.
You will:
- prepare and present food to a high professional standard in line with menu specifications and brand expectations;
- support catering delivery for conferences, corporate events, graduations and internal functions;
- maintain strict food safety and hygiene standards in accordance with HACCP and relevant legislation;
- ensure efficient kitchen operations, including stock rotation, portion control and waste minimisation;
- collaborate with chefs, front-of-house staff and events teams to deliver seamless service;
- assist with menu preparation, including accommodating dietary and cultural requirements;
- operate kitchen equipment safely and effectively;
- maintain cleanliness and organisation of kitchen and storage areas;
- prepare and place daily menu orders in line with customer demand; and
- work across Sunshine Coast and Moreton Bay campuses as required.
About you:
You are a motivated and reliable chef with a strong commitment to quality, safety and customer service. You thrive in a fast-paced kitchen environment and bring a collaborative approach to team-based service delivery.
You will possess:
- a relevant trade qualification (Certificate III in Commercial Cookery or equivalent);
- demonstrated experience in a commercial kitchen environment;
- strong knowledge of food safety standards and best practices;
- ability to work efficiently in a high-volume, fast-paced environment;
- flexibility to work varied hours, including early mornings, evenings and weekends;
- strong teamwork and communication skills;
- ability to travel between UniSC campuses as required; and
- relevant food safety certifications.
Experience in event or large-scale catering, along with knowledge of diverse cuisines and dietary requirements, will be highly regarded.
