As the Joinery Estimator, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and quotations for custom joinery projects. You will work closely with clients, designers, production staff, and suppliers to ensure all project requirements are clearly understood and properly costed.
This role requires strong technical knowledge of joinery manufacturing, materials, hardware, and production processes.
Key Responsibilities
Estimating & Quoting
Prepare accurate quotations for kitchens, wardrobes, vanities, laundries, and custom joinery
Interpret architectural drawings, joinery drawings, and specifications
Calculate material quantities, labour requirements, and hardware costs
Prepare detailed cost breakdowns and tender submissions
Review project variations and revised pricing
Project Coordination
Liaise with designers, clients, suppliers, and production teams
Clarify project scope and technical requirements
Assist in project handovers to production
Ensure approved drawings and specifications align with quoted scope
Cost Control & Procurement Support
Monitor material pricing and supplier costs
Maintain estimating databases and pricing systems
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality
Assist with procurement planning and lead time awareness
Systems & Documentation
Maintain accurate project records and revision tracking
Ensure all estimates are properly documented
Support continuous improvement of estimating systems and workflows
Contribute to standardization of materials and processes
Skills & Experience
Essential
Previous experience estimating within the joinery/cabinetmaking industry
Strong understanding of kitchen and wardrobe manufacturing
Ability to read and interpret architectural and joinery drawings
Excellent numerical and analytical skills
Strong attention to detail
Good communication and organizational abilities
Preferred
Experience with Cabinet Vision, Mozaik, Microvellum, or similar software
Knowledge of hardware and material suppliers
Understanding of CNC manufacturing processes
Experience in custom residential joinery projects
Trade background in cabinetmaking/joinery
