Hypersonix is an Australian aerospace engineering and advanced manufacturing company building hydrogen-powered scramjet aircraft. We work at the bleeding edge of hypersonic technology, delivering aircraft that fly faster, reach further, and open new pathways to space – and we’re a small, highly capable team doing work that genuinely matters.
As an IT Support Engineer, you’ll be the first point of contact for service desk requests, providing responsive IT support for Hypersonix employees. You’ll play a vital role in keeping endpoints, identity and everyday systems running reliably. Working closely with the wider IT team, you’ll gain exposure to infrastructure and operations as well as security and compliance, building the technical foundation to grow your IT career.
You’ll be comfortable working at pace and learning quickly, eager to develop your technical knowledge and experience. If you’re a recent graduate or early in your IT career and looking for a new challenge in a start-up environment, we’d love to hear from you.
Responsibilities include:
- Act as the first point of contact for IT requests and incidents through the service desk, logging, triaging, and resolving tickets within agreed response times.
- Provide first and second level support for laptops, Microsoft 365, and everyday business applications.
- Set up, configure, and deploy laptops and peripherals using RMM tools, and keep asset records accurate and up to date.
- Support staff onboarding and offboarding, including account, licence, and access setup in Entra ID.
- Manage day to day identity and access tasks across Microsoft 365 and Entra ID under guidance.
- Assist the Infrastructure Engineer with routine operational tasks across Microsoft 365, Entra ID, and AWS hosted systems.
- Help monitor system health, patching, and backups, and escalate anything unusual promptly.
- Contribute to clear documentation of systems, processes, and knowledge base articles.
- Support day to day security tasks such as reviewing alerts and following up on endpoint and access issues.
- Assist with gathering evidence and routine tasks that support the NIST 800-171 compliance program.
- Follow IT and security policies and help promote good security habits across the business.
- Build core skills in networking, identity, and cloud through hands on exposure and structured learning, and complete assigned training.
We’re a 60-person company moving fast in one of the most technically demanding fields in aerospace. The pace is fast, the expectations are high and our environment is constantly evolving. Priorities shift, processes are maturing and the path forward isn’t always clear; some days you’ll need to find it yourself. The people who thrive here are energised by that — not unsettled by it.
You’ll thrive here if you:
- Own problems end to end without waiting for a complete picture
- Hold technical rigour and program pace simultaneously – without sacrificing either
- Lead by bringing people with you, not by working around them
- Stay solutions-focused when the ground shifts.
To hit the ground running in this role, you’ll need:
- Completed, or working towards, a tertiary qualification in IT, computer science, or a related field, or equivalent early career experience.
- Foundational knowledge of Windows and Microsoft 365 in an end user support setting.
- Strong customer service focus with clear written and verbal communication.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills, with a genuine eagerness to learn and grow.
- Ability to work onsite and support staff across the business.
- Australian Citizen with ability to obtain security clearance.
Bonus points for:
- Relevant certifications or coursework, for example CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft fundamentals
- Experience within manufacturing, engineering, aerospace, or regulated industries.
If you want to do the most technically challenging work of your career — and you’re honest with yourself that our environment will enable you to do your best work — we’d love to hear from you.
Benefits include:
- Competitive salary
- Equity participation
- Flexible working – we care about output, not hours
- A team doing genuinely world-class work
- Real ownership and influence from day one
- Funded Professional development
- Confidential Employee Assistance Program
