Latrobe Regional Health is looking for Registered Nurse Pre-Admission Clinic to join our growing team on a part time (0.8EFT) ongoing basis.
The Registered Nurse – Pre‑Admission Clinic is responsible for coordinating patient assessment and pre‑operative optimisation to ensure patients are appropriately prepared for surgery and achieve the best possible clinical outcomes. Working closely with surgical, medical and administrative teams, the role supports safe, efficient and patient‑centred care throughout the surgical journey.
The position plays a key role in assessing patient readiness for surgery, providing education, coordinating care requirements and facilitating communication between patients, clinicians and healthcare services to enhance safety and improve perioperative outcomes.

The role of the Registered Nurse Pre-Admission Clinic is to:
- Conduct comprehensive pre‑operative assessments, including review of medical history, current health status and diagnostic investigations to ensure patient readiness for surgery.
- Prioritise patients according to clinical requirements and support timely access to surgical services.
- Provide pre‑operative education and information to patients and carers, supporting informed participation in their care journey.
- Liaise with healthcare professionals, departments and external healthcare providers to coordinate patient care and optimise outcomes.
- Collect, review and maintain accurate patient documentation to support safe surgical planning and continuity of care.
- Collaborate closely with Patient Services Unit clerical staff and Pre‑Admission Clinic colleagues to ensure efficient service delivery and patient flow.
About you
Ideal candidates for this role will have:
- Current registration as a Division 1 Registered Nurse with AHPRA.
- Experience in surgical nursing and a sound understanding of perioperative care and patient preparation processes.
- Strong assessment, clinical reasoning and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to interpret information and coordinate patient care effectively.
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills, including the ability to prioritise patients and manage competing demands.
- A commitment to patient‑centred care, continuous professional development and building positive relationships with patients and stakeholders.
