About the Role:
Modbury Hospital's Rehabilitation in the Home (RITH) program is a respected part of how the Northern Adelaide Local Health Network (NALHN) delivers patient-centred care beyond the hospital walls. If you're a Senior Occupational Therapist ready to lead clinical practice and make a measurable difference in how northern Adelaide patients recover and regain independence, this is a substantive opportunity worth your attention. This is a full-time, fixed-term contract through to 4 October 2027.
What You'll Be Leading
Working within the RITH program at Modbury Hospital, you will have the unique opportunity to specialise in the rehabilitation of stroke, amputee, orthopaedic and reconditioning client groups. In the role, you will provide advanced occupational therapy assessment and intervention to patients transitioning from inpatient to community settings. Your responsibilities will include:
Conducting complex functional and cognitive assessments and developing goal-directed rehabilitation plans for patients in home and community environments.
Recommending and arranging patient aids, equipment, home modifications and ongoing support services.
Providing clinical supervision, mentorship and professional guidance to junior OT staff, students and Allied Health Assistants.
Collaborating within a multidisciplinary team to support safe, timely discharge and reduce avoidable re-presentation.
Contributing to service development, quality improvement, and evidence-based practice initiatives within NALHN.
What You'll Bring
AHPRA registration as an Occupational Therapist with no conditions or notations
Demonstrated experience at a senior or advanced clinical level, ideally within rehabilitation, acute, or community settings
Proven ability to manage a complex caseload with a high degree of clinical reasoning and autonomy
Experience providing clinical supervision and supporting the professional development of junior clinicians
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in an interdisciplinary team
Current SA driver's licence, as home-visiting is integral to this role
To be eligible for this position, you must possess an appropriate degree or equivalent qualification which entitles registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Occupational Therapy Board of Australia.

In this role you will have strong interpersonal and communication skills which will enable you to successfully problem solve, resolve conflicts and negotiate, including the ability to engage in difficult conversations, whilst building and maintaining relationships. An ability to effectively manage multiple, diverse and competing priorities and demonstrated resilience within a stressful and complex environment is essential to this role.

The Rehabilitation in the Home program provides home-based rehabilitation services to 35 patients who are seen on a daily basis – mirroring an inpatient service setting but with the added benefit of the patient being in their own home environment. Patients also have the option to receive tailored tele-rehabilitation therapy sessions to complement the home visiting service, and connect with their therapists and medical team virtually.
